sanGK Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Hi Everyone, I'll be returning to Sydney end of the/early next year. I would ideally like to bring my Z back with me/eventually. Freight movers in KL have not been able to properly advice me on a ballpark $$ required to ship the lady home. I could use some advice on: the costs involved (even if it's only on the Sydney end). the legalities and eligibility of the car. Mine is a 260z 2+2 running an rb25det (stock, no mods done otherwise). Thanks a bunch! Cheers Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted August 4, 2015 Moderators Posted August 4, 2015 Gidday Probably best to have a really good read the official gov websites, they explain it pretty well. https://infrastructure.gov.au/vehicles/imports/process_overview.aspx Gav may also have some good first hand advice to offer from his recent experience importing his RX-7 Cheers PB Quote
gilltech Posted August 4, 2015 Posted August 4, 2015 Do all your homework about importing a car. The first thing is to get an import approval before you do anything else. Don't ship a car to Australia without that in hand. Is it going to be cost effective for you? Surely any freight forwarder worthy of the name can give you an estimate to put your car in a container at KL or wherever & send to Sydney. It will be up to you to decide whether to fill 'your' 40ft container up with your other possessions, or share one with another person's stuff (risky), or ship the car on it's own in a 20ft (less risk of damage but more expensive).
