Hi everyone, I would like to get your advice. I'm moving to Sydney in about 10 days, and am in a huge dilemma. I have a 260z 2+2 with an RB25det conversion (done by the previous owner). It's still a work in progress (engine is basic but runs well but wiring, axles, suspension, fuel tank, meters, seatbelts, electrical need to be redone). I am worried about the cost of getting these done in Australia. I started the project with a rebuild of the floor panels, rockers, gearbox tunnel and firewall (all rotten). Didn't touch the body, so there's bound to be rust beneath all that cement. If I ship it, it would cost me about AUD 5k. If i sell it before coming i'd get approx AUD 14-15k (depending on the exchange). Would it be worth letting this go and finding one in Australia? Or should I sell a kidney and bring mine over and get the rest done? Thanks.

Hi Everyone, I'll be returning to Sydney end of the/early next year. I would ideally like to bring my Z back with me/eventually. Freight movers in KL have not been able to properly advice me on a ballpark $$ required to ship the lady home. I could use some advice on: the costs involved (even if it's only on the Sydney end). the legalities and eligibility of the car. Mine is a 260z 2+2 running an rb25det (stock, no mods done otherwise). Hi guys, Urgently need some help to source for weatherstrip set for my 260z 2+2. My brother is flying out of Sydney in a week and I'd like him to bring it over for me. Anywhere in Sydney I might be able to source it from? Mainly need the window rubbers. Thanks

Heyy Dat2kman, Thanks for the tip, the one or two export websites that I came across were not wreckers, more towards performance parts suppliers, and the gearboxes were in the thousands! If you know of any leads to some Japanese wreckers, I would greatly appreciate that! These parts are used alot in Malaysia by Drifters, and as such it is a huge risk buying them over there. With a very tight budget, I can't afford that risk :-( And my current auto gearbox is already out of the body (rebuilding the chassis), so it would be a good time to swap it for one in better condition.

Ignore the request for the airdam, my free ride just became limited to a small box:-(

Hi Mark, Would like to find out if you'll get to making windows for the Z (mine is a 260z 2+2) in the near future? Been pondering with the idea of shatter proof options for the windows.

Hey Bam, Awesome Awesome looking 2+2! I recently purchased my own in Malaysia, and found nearly no floor on the car. It's being rebuilt now, and as you will see in posts, I am scouring for parts. Your car pretty much sums up my dreams with the Z. Once again, great car!

Heyy guys! Just found out I may be able to get a cheap ride for my items to Malaysia! Does anybody have an air dam and fender flares that they're willing to let go for free or at a reasonable price? I really don't mind if they require some work before mounting. I have the lights sorted out already ( courtesy of Dimitri :-) ) So still scouting around for the other items on the list. Thanks!

Heyy Agno, Thanks for the info. Been checking out ebay and rarespares among other stores. The weatherstrip kits are quite pricey for me at the moment, that's why I was thinking of experimenting with some cheaper alternatives that have worked well (if there are any). Heard about the Kia Sportage door rubbers, so will have a go at that when I move to Malaysia before Christmas. I'm very new to the whole ressurecting a car. my closest attempt was with my previous pride and joy; A mazda 323 fast back.

Ok, I've just found out that I need a center console, apparently mine got damaged when it was removed for chassis rebuild! I will accept ur word on the condition of your console, as its impossible for me to come down at this time:-( Please keep the console for me, as I am 100% taking that. Hi there! I've been looking for the following items to give life to the 1974 260z 2+2 I bought recently: 1. wiper-signal switch assembly 2. Steering column cover 3. Chrome trimmings, especially the corner pieces 4. The rear quarter glass ( if it comes with the frames) 5. Front signal light assembly ( the curved ones under the bumpers) 6. Any of the rubber/weatherstrip parts that are in good condition 7. The rear brake lights and panel I'm based in Sydney, and my car is in Malaysia, so I will try and figure out a transportation mode if you're able to help me out on any of these. Your car looks awesome for one that is only 50% complete, haha! I am interested to find out about your weatherstrips, especially the windscreen ones. Toying around with the idea of going chromeless, as I feel it will be too difficult to maintain, and 2, without the chrome, the car looks a wee bit more streamlined, if that makes any sense. Where did you get yours, and how much do they cost? I know the original ones cost a ton of money!

Hey! Thanks for this thread! I've had my rb25det removed for some major chassis work on my 260z 2+2 that was just bought. The automotive dude said that the existing engine wiring loom is not in good shape anymore, and recomended that it be changed. Would you be able to advise me on whether it is possible to customize the wiring, or where I can get an engine loom that is in good shape for a reasonable price? I have no clue about engines, but I do know that the previous owner had done alot of mods to the car to fit the rb25det inside. The dash gauges are all from the 260 itself from what i know. Hope that my questions dont seem too obscure for you. Thanks!
