jameshay_103 Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 So I've been a long time reader of these forums, have been wanting a 240/260z for a looong time and finally took the plunge on this bronze 260z 2 seater. It's in fairly good condition with a great history of two owners over it's 40 odd years of life. The first had it for 27 years and used it as a daily in Brisbane and the second owner restored most of it in Yeppoon. There is rust beside a bit in the passenger door. The best part of it was it came with the full car history including each years regos, original everything including the marketing material back then and a booklet of receipts amounting to over 18k. The car drives wonderfully. For a car of it's age you wouldn't expect so. The best part is it starts first go every time and never misses a beat. Looking forward to getting more involved in the forum. I race an MX5 at all TimeAttack events as well as Prod Sports so if I see any racing Z's I will be sure to say hello. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 3, 2015 Administrators Posted April 3, 2015 Well done, looks like a well kept example and certainly neat looking. I have those same wheels on my Safari Gold 240z I'm restoring, your wheels are in better shape and have the center cap stickers. I recall seeing this car on Gumtree a little while back, the sunroof looks hardly noticeable which is a good thing. The only negative must be the slush box? Or perhaps it's not so bad? What are your plans for it? Quote
jameshay_103 Posted April 3, 2015 Author Posted April 3, 2015 The sunroof did turn me off originally but I actually quiet like it now. It was a factory option which apparently is a bit better somehow, or so I was told. Yes it was on gumtree a while back. The auto drives fine I'm not fussed as it's only a weekender. It get's driven probably 3-400k a month so I just take it out whenever I can. Are these wheels standard kit? I never asked. Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 3, 2015 Administrators Posted April 3, 2015 The sunroof did turn me off originally but I actually quiet like it now. It was a dealer fitted option which apparently is a bit better somehow, or so I was told. Yes it was on gumtree a while back. Fixed that for you, factory never fitted sunroof's it was all dealers or aftermarket. A lot of variance in quality and look/style of them also. This appears to be 1 of the better ones I've seen over the years. The 1 fitted on my Gold 240z is like a giant pimple on the roof, it stands out like dogs bollocks, I hate it. Are these wheels standard kit? I never asked. Nope, just a commonly fitted aftermarket wheel for the period. I think they might be hotwires? Not really sure. I'll have a close look 1 day. They were also fitted to this 'wine' red 240z I inspected a while back for someone who was looking to bid on it at auction. I actually don't mind them when they are cleaned up, but they are not my favorite wheels for an S30z. Quote
oldmates260z Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 That sure is one fine looking Zed, great pick up and I am sure you will have many hours of fun on the weekend with it Welcome aboard Quote

Six_Shooter Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 If i got wine that colour i would send it back haha. Hey, what's wrong with brown? Quote
oldmates260z Posted April 3, 2015 Posted April 3, 2015 Brown is cool.... very 70's .... like the Zed .... cannot say I have seen too much wine in that colour Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted April 3, 2015 Administrators Posted April 3, 2015 Yeah I guess wine red is the wrong way to describe it. Although in person it almost has a red hint in the hue. There is a later s31 colour that is a burgundy red, first 240z I went for a spin in had been repainted that later colour and I always confuse it with this colour and confuse it for an original colour. It is similar at least in photos to the GP maroon on the 240zg which is different to this bronze / Brown shade. Although I think the 260z in this thread is more metallic than the earlier 240z shade of brown. Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted April 4, 2015 Moderators Posted April 4, 2015 Welcome to the forums! Great zed to start with; just drive and enjoy! They are Hotwires by Aunger? I had a set for my first zed before I started the hunt for 15" wheels as they were pricey back then and 17"s were for the wealthy.. Polished and painted black they look the part. Quote
