My door hinges are making that horrible squeak/groan/crunch sound when closing the door.  Is this a case of redo the hinges like in this thread:

or is it possibly an alignment issue ?  The door seems to sit OK and the hinges don't seem particularly worn, so I was thinking maybe the hinge springs are too old and stiff ?

I had this on an old car before and from memory I applied so much dry lube you could barely see the hinge any more, which didn't fix it but did alleviate it a little  ;D.  That was when I was 17 so I'm looking for a grown up (and proper) solution this time !

Hi Andy

Dry is pretty good, but the problem with it is that wont seep into the centre of the pivot points.

I find a very small amount of oil placed so it can run into the centre of the pivots works well.

Don't forget that you will need to work it into the pivots.

If that doesn't work try stripping them down, cleaning all the crap out then lightly lubricating upon assembly.

Cheers
