Azman1984 Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Hey guys! I need some advice please. Since stripping the interior out of the car I have noticed that parts of the floor pan where the carpet was missing have some surface rust. I have sanded parts of this back and it only seems to be light and I have not found any rust holes yet. My questions is can I just clean this up and treat the affected areas or should I rip up all the sound dead we matting and do the whole floor? Quote
Scoota G Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 The second one. Then strip back to metal, etch prime and cover with a suitable adhesive body deadener like Dynamat or Rattletrap. Quote
Azman1984 Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Thanks Scoota. The answer I dreaded yet the answer I expected I guess Quote
Scoota G Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 If there is one thing you will appreciate from the exercise it will be the comfort level in the car. It's sooo much quieter and if you can fit it inside the doors it will make a very nice sound when closing. Ebay has the best price on Dynamat http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Dynamat-Xtreme-9-Sheet-Bulk-Pack-Sound-Deadener-Extreme-Car-Audio-Sub-Deadening-/281268501444?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item417ce8bbc4 I paid a lot more for the same pack 3 years ago. Having said that you don't have to do this but it does make the vehicle so much more enjoyable. I pulled out the dash and went right up to the firewall but most of the road noise comes up from the rear wheel arches. You'll only need to do it once. Quote

Just be thankful you don't have to cut out any rust . Quote
Azman1984 Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 Sadly Gav I may need to replace a section of the passenger floor as it looks to have been dented in from the bottom Quote
PeterAllen Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Just flatten it out from inside the cabin with a piece of 4" x 2" about 30cm long, and a hammer. Place the timber over the dent and give it a tap, gradually increasing the strength of the blows until the floor flattens out. Quote
