Carbies to replace EFI

Hi. This may be a dumb question. I have an injected l28 turbo in my 260. Just wondering about putting carbies on it to replace the Efi There is a set of twin carbs on ebay

Just wondering if these will bolt up to an l28 and give it enough fuel.

Also my l28 compression is around 150psi each cylinder. Will this be any good for NA.

I originally had a l28 inj I was going to install, then ditched the original efi gear, put some new Twin su's on I had  then 6 months latter decided that 3 was better than 2...

The standard mech fuel pump will cope ok... If you can stretch the budget to tripple 40mms, you wont look back.

haha. I was waiting for that. When I was looking for a car I was after a NA Carbie but this one came up and was too good to pass on. I already have another toy car that's injected (was turbo until recently). My brother has a little corolla panelvan with a worked carbie motor and I think sounds awesome and goes well. Carbies just suit what I am trying to achieve with this car.

Maybe triples in the future. Just want to get it going for now so I can drive it. I haven't driven it with the turbo set up so at least I wont know what I am missing.

Just keep the jets small and slightly lean..get it dynoed then jet up if and as required...have you bought those carbs ?

Edit....just realised they are the hitachis. I should have had a look first....  get used to needles.

I too had a turbo L28 that i sold and have now gone with triples, so i get your reasoning. I done the swap because the sound and smell of triples are intoxicating.

 

You can save yourself more money by NOT buying that setup on Ebay and instead get a new set of extractors (identical) off ebay for $200-$250 and a set of 240z carbs which often sell for $200.

Thanks for the advise retro z. It says or best offer. But pretty much anything else I buy will have to be posted as I live in Albury so it would probably workout somewhere up there anyways. Chris 240  what do you mean get used to needles.

That setup looks like a reasonable price to me. It's complete and ready to go.

It was only about 6 months back we saw some Hitachis with linkages and original air box sell for $615 on eBay. 

What sort of computer do you have in the car currently? You might be able to sell your efi / turbo setup and buy these http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,14929.0.html

It's got a factor ecu I assume. It does say skyline on it. I think 1980. One injector is leaking also. What's a ball park figure I could get for the efi and turbo setup.

I am interested in the turbo package depending on price, if you will split it up I already have an efi L28

So I bought them. I have talked to the guy and they have had a kit put through them which is good. Linton I am not sure what I am going to do with my current setup. I might keep it for a rainy day. Thanks for your help everyone.

In a roundabout sorta way,  su's controll fuel flow by a single "needle" which plunges up and down.

Do You guys think my compression will be to low for na. It's got a f54 block and p90A head. All cylinders were around 150psi.

Compression is fine..

Dunno about the head, best you swap it out and sell it to me....

so now that I have these I have been doing a bit of research and need some advise. To get my 260 to run well will I be able to modify my head or do I need to get a NA head to replace it or leave it as is. As I have said it has a f54 turbo block so I would assume it has dished pistons.

You can leave it as is, I had the same head/block combo. It will have dished pistons so the comp ratio will be 8.3:1.

Try fitting a 72 degree cam, it'll be a cheap way to make it a little more zippy.

Thanks Gareth. Did you convert yours to NA? I was hoping I would be able to use the car while I source and build an L26 or L28 NA.(probably will be 2 years process for me). I know it wont go as good as it could but I think I will be happy with it.
