dat240z Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 Does anyone have any information on legislation and or requirements regarding rear bumpers on z's - or more specifiacally my 240z? I've deleted the rear bar/hangers, welded on plates where holes and indentation for sides were so it's all completely smooth with the exhaust tip ending in line with the body. The plate is in the typical rear centre garish position with working light. There's nothing sharp or protruding. My cars already engineered and registered but I don't want the fuzz's attention. Any info would be great fellas. Quote
chartoo Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 When I asked my engineer in WA for engineering purposes, he said deletion of the rear bumper was ok but the front was needed as it is part of the crumple zone and passenger protection but dont take my word as law Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted November 11, 2014 Administrators Posted November 11, 2014 my 72 hasn't had a bumper on the back for years. I never had a problem, when I first went for a RWC they wanted the stock bumper back on because the exhaust was protruding out the back and it was a pedestrian concern if they walked past or around the rear of the car and got burnt by exhaust tips etc.. If your exhaust is flush with the rear of the car I don't think this would be a concern. Quote
funzies Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I had a comment from the guy at the pits about not having a rear bumper but it was fine by him Quote
Retro Z Posted November 12, 2014 Posted November 12, 2014 Im getting a 260z engineered at the moment and he prefers a rear bumper, but said he is willing to overlook it providing the bolt holes are no longer visible or any evidence that there was a bumper. Quote
dat240z Posted November 12, 2014 Author Posted November 12, 2014 Yeah cool, thanks guys. Im sure common sense will prevail - hopefully! Quote
