matty62 Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Hi all, I'm looking at getting a 240 or 260 z, and am really looking forward to doing a restoration on it. I would appreciate any advice on what problem areas I should look for when I am looking at these models. I have a fair idea on body and rust issues , but not too clued in on the mechanical's. Quote
dat240z Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Welcome, there are 1000's of pages of detailed and specific information about anyting z related. The index will be your best bet for searching.. The general rule here is search twice, then ask.. Quote
oldmates260z Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Welcome you have come to the right place for information and support. Mechanically there are no massive traps in a Datsun. If in doubt ask. Good luck with your search. Quote
Moderators PB260Z Posted September 1, 2014 Moderators Posted September 1, 2014 Welcome aboard. I would suggest reading through a few of the build threads to see what rust areas are common and how just bad it can be. Just remember they rust from the inside out, by the time you can see a problem it is most likely well advanced. The good news - is that mechanically these are relatively simple cars and have very robust drivelines. +1 on doing a good search before asking. Good luck with the search. Cheers PB Quote
