I will be requiring a girdle for my stroker engine. I have come across one that is a little different but I'm unsure if it will do the job or not. It's billet aluminium, it only attaches directly to the main caps 2,3,4,5,6 and sits inside the block.

Would it be ok, strong, weak, useless?

With the huuuuuuuge extended sump I have, clearance to the steering rack is tiny. I'm concerned the sump will hit the rack with the regular girdle fitted.

Same as Nissan SR20DET

It'll sorta help, ideally a full set of custom made caps, and a plate from one side of block to other, dowelled into block edges, and studded mains.

Sump then bolts on, or the alloy AZC type sump, ideally dowelled ( dont come prepared for dowels)

The blocks can spread/twist, the drag race boys know all about this!

Mate runs a fj20 staged at 35 psi, then ramps up to around 50+ psi boost, block is concrete/grout filled, girdle is 1/2" thick plate, tied to sides and mains.

Car does 7.1s. 1/4 mile. Has the quicks indeed.

So this style would be better as it ties into caps and all around the block? And it's steel

I only have about 5mm clearance to the steering rack so this type will make it very very tight.

I cant see much benefit in the alloy one Gareth, tying the tops of a few caps together wont hurt but wont do an awful lot either. Full steel girdle is much better if designed and fitted properly. If you really think you need a girdle then having to do a minor mod to your oil pan is an easy option.

I had a plate steal one when I was getting my engine built and PMC said not to bother with it so i sold it.

The block isn't designed to need a girdle and I am running a Kameari/AZC sump which helps stiffens the block.

How much power is your stroker going to make and how hard are you going to rev it? If it's less than 400hp at the crank and under 9000rpm I think your money is better spent elsewhere.

Very interesting, If your engine doesn't need one I can't think of many that would! I'll be nowhere near that power, I can't see myself revving it past 7500ish.

Which block should I use? I have F54, N42 and an L20a six cylinder.
