hi guys,

Ive just began sectioning my struts to use some threaded collars. I will be using Tokico inserts from the US. MR2 AW11 rear inserts for the front, 240z front inserts for the rear. Now my question is.... how do i pick the correct spring length??

Section your strut, weld on the threaded tube and collars.

Then measure from the bottom of your strut top to the top setting you want your collar at.

If you will be using springs for coilovers, they are only available in a couple of lengths anyway; from around 200mm and 250mm or something close to that. Either 60 or 65mm ID.

yeah i need 60mm ID. My mate who is currently in the USA put me onto this place that sell springs 4-10 inches in length. I believe most sleeve kits come with 8in springs (200mm) so these are mostly likely a correct length.

thanks for the replies guys

I believe if your spring rates are softer than about 300lb/in, 8" tall springs may bind under heavy load. So for anything below 300lb/in, get 10" springs.

I think I read something like that when I was looking for my springs, mine are 10" springs 175 and 200 pds

Makes sense. Ive got tokico blues so I was planning to only run 200 /250lbs.

I will look into 10inch springs when I get around to measuring the struts after I finish cutting them up. It's only going to be a street / spirited driver.
