hey everyone I'm new to the forum and i want to buy a 240z or 280z to put a V8 in it but i have no experience in the legal side of things what would i need to do to get it road legal. i have looked into it a bit so i know you need an engineer to sign off on it, because of that can anyone recommend one in the Townsville area. This is going to be a project car so i am ope to any and all advice and constructive criticism. :) thanks

Can be done, as has been many times.

It would be well worth downloading a copy of the National Guidelines for this type of modification.

Ultimately it is the engineers call, but the guidelines will help you understand the requirements.

According to the TMR website Queensland follows the National Code VSB14.

One piece of advice - work with your engineer, don't fight him or her.

Having done 2 240z v8 conversions I would recommend the Commdore ls1 and 6 speed for conversion (have also fitted ls1 to 3 different customer cars currently doing Ls2 into ford bronco) There is far more complex V8 engines than the Ls1 But The Ls1 is a easy drop in motor with mounting kit available and its there is as many after market parts as anyone could want available for them wiring is easy great simple motor to put in plenty power good economy
