If you care to read it properly you will see there is nothing wrong with lending you car for a friend's wedding.

Transport Department manager for passenger transport, Bill Gonis, said ... "If they're simply just providing that service for a friend of theirs that's fine, that's the end of that.

Clearly the government is responding to an allegation by a hire car company as they don't waste time and taxpayer money on surveillance of such matters.

On the other hand you can't blame the hire car companies who pay public liability insurance and have a whole range of cost in running their business, trying to stop fly-by-nighters infiltrating their business.

Typical on today's media, distort the facts to suit outlandish headlines.

This is how stupid urban myths are started.

Guilty as charged on a couple of occasions. In NSW I think the deal is you must have a public vehicle authority (like a hire car driver) and the vehicle must be business registered as a hire car. Also even a "case of crownies" is considered payment/ reward as well which is not allowed. I would think if you were a friend which is invited to the wedding and there is no perceived "reward or payment" then there shouldn't be a problem.

cheers, Mike

I thought this thread was going to be related to the 240z theft we had recently. Glad it wasn't.

No, i wont rent my car or services out to you for your event, however i have this painting my child did, I'll sell it to you for $400.

And because im a nice guy, i'll deliver it to your event for you, hell, i'll even pick you up on the way.

Not hard to get around the bs.

Just like when i went to my formal so many moons ago (a lot actually  :( )

The guy didnt want any payment, just said that if some money fell out of your pocket in his car then it was lucky for him to find it.
