dat2kman Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Got a set of Hilux calipers for the front. In Brisbane, can freight. Quote
G Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 I've got a rebuilt set of Toyota Hilux calipers and I'll be in Sydney just after xmas if that helps. Quote
G Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 Oops! Sorry to come over the top. I was typing while you were posting! Quote

too_much_boost Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Thanks for the replies guys. How much are you after? What disks do these require? How hard is the upgrade? Quote
G Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Here ya go.. http://drivendaily.org/s30-toyota-brake-upgrades/ Quote
too_much_boost Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 Just got word back from an engineer that the brakes need to be at least as big as the donor car. That means i'll need something that is at least 296mm and 4 pot. Quote
Scoota G Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Just got word back from an engineer that the brakes need to be at least as big as the donor car. That means i'll need something that is at least 296mm and 4 pot. What a load of rubbish. I engineered my zed with a cleveland and the only thing they had to do was pass a brake fade test. Just goes to show how these "engineers" vary from state to state. They should all be working off the national code which can be downloaded. If i were you i would check out the arizona zed car gear as it may not be much more than building your own setup. Quote
too_much_boost Posted December 12, 2013 Author Posted December 12, 2013 My current train of thought is that i'll be using VT disks with R33 calipers. This should satisfy the engineer along with being pretty cheap Anyone have some R31 rears? Quote
too_much_boost Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 Yep. Do you have a zed? Quote
Magnet Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Yep, after over 50 silvias I need a change. Trying to get reg before Christmas, probs won't make it This forum is pretty good, like snsw, few old cranky farts that know stuff, you'd fit right in Quote
dat2kman Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Yes, a number of old cranky farts, who invented drifting, 40 years ago! Almost every set of traffic lights on King Georges rd through Punchbowl and Lakemba, had a certain 2400cc Dato 1600 proceeding through them, not facing the correct direction of travel, quite often! zeds4ever Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Good one Jason, can't believe DC30Y hasn't hooked into him about vowels being absent. Oh well. Regards: Alan. Quote
Magnet Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 I invented drift in 2006, don't know what you guys were doing Quote
too_much_boost Posted December 14, 2013 Author Posted December 14, 2013 These guys were doing 'powerskids'. Anyway who has some R31 rear brakes for me? Quote
Triptych Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 there is a fair few R31 rear brake setups on ebay. You still have to modify them to suit but looking at the forums it doesn't look to hard. I have my set here just haven't modified them. Quote
Scoota G Posted December 14, 2013 Posted December 14, 2013 Anyway who has some R31 rear brakes for me? I actually wrote the tutorial and i have a spare set of brackets here. I have to modify a set for Tai soon so i could do two sets at the same time if that suits you. Quote
zeds4ever Posted December 15, 2013 Posted December 15, 2013 G'day Jason, PM sent Re: Toyota brakes. Regards: Alan. Quote
too_much_boost Posted December 15, 2013 Author Posted December 15, 2013 Ok i've just bought a set of rear from ebay. Quote
Wayne G Posted December 16, 2013 Posted December 16, 2013 Have you found a different engineer because R33 rears are huge, larger diameter rotor than the front and two piston caliper, much larger than r31 I would suspect. Having said that, the r31 rear should be more than adequate unless you are going endurance racing. Don't drifters disconnect the rear hydraulic brakes anyway and just use the hand brake for a little weight transfer? Quote
too_much_boost Posted December 16, 2013 Author Posted December 16, 2013 I told my engineer that I was going to use R31 rears due to simplicity and availability and he was happy with that. Quote
