George_Zed Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hey all!!! I am George (well, this is obvious ) from Athens, Greece. I don't have a Zed yet but it is a matter of time... in a month or so I am going to get some money from an insurance company for an accident I had with my CBR600rr7 and I will start looking... So, bikes are over for me now and I want to dedicate myself to this great car... a Zed car... I am looking for a clean nice zed car (prefer 240 but 260 and 280 are very welcome too ). I found this forum yesterday, you guys are awesome!!! it is a huge source for these cars!!! you have made amazing things with your cars and I just started reading... I am going to learn a lot of things here!!! Happy to be here... Quote

Gordo Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Hi George, yes it is an amazing forum. There is heaps of information on hear if you have the time to search for it. And you might live a bit longer if you give away the bikes and get into the Zeds. Good luck with your Zed. Quote

Moderators Zedman240® Posted October 14, 2013 Moderators Posted October 14, 2013 Welcome George.. Many zeds in Greece? Its been around 30 years since I've been there.. Good luck on the search. Quote
George_Zed Posted October 15, 2013 Author Posted October 15, 2013 thank you all for the welcome!!! And you might live a bit longer if you give away the bikes and get into the Zeds. Good luck with your Zed. if I don't manage to buy a Zed (mostly financial reasons), I will just buy a track bike and visit only track once in a while to have some fun but not in public roads anymore... but I really want a Zed!!! From Greece? Waiting on Insurance? ;D (a bit of Aussie humour from arguably one of our greatest movies) hahaha I've seen this movie and laughed a lot!!! Welcome George.. Many zeds in Greece? Its been around 30 years since I've been there.. Good luck on the search. I haven't seen a Zed here in Greece... and I don't think anyone has... I am looking to buy from Europe and if I find a bargain from USA... The problem from USA is that I can't see the car and this is a bit risky... If I found in Europe, I can go and check... Quote
imackz Posted October 15, 2013 Posted October 15, 2013 Hi George & Welcome, You might find UK a source for Z's other from that they still sell a few out of Japan, take a look. http://www.importmonster.com.au/yahoo?cat=2084022959&cat-name=Fairlady+Z#2084022959 Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 16, 2013 Administrators Posted October 16, 2013 George/Yorgos www.pistonheads.co.uk and carandclassic.co.uk tend to be good for cars in Europe. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/datsun/240z http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/list/68/240z/ You can pick up a good condition 280z quite cheap in the states and in good rust free condition. So if you're not looking for a 240z per se, a 280z is almost the same car but often quite a bit cheaper. You can of course get rid of the bumpers and have yourself a fuel injected classic! Quote
George_Zed Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Thanks guys for the links... the thing is that I can't afford an expensive zed, I am looking for the lowest price at the best condition possible (according to price of course...). My budget is low, max €6.500 so it would be a bit difficult for me to find a good one. But I am not in a hurry...I will find a moderate one and restore it as it deserves I know that restoring also costs but I will do this slowly so I can raise some money... I also need to have manual transmission and be a LHD zed... I am interested in 260z and 280z, not only 240z (but I prefer 240z...am I wrong? I have to see the differences again...) Quote
Administrators gav240z Posted October 16, 2013 Administrators Posted October 16, 2013 I am interested in 260z and 280z, not only 240z (but I prefer 240z...am I wrong? I have to see the differences again...) The overall dimensions of each are the same in 2 seater config. The differences are in trim and rear lights / dashboards etc.. but for the most part it's the same car. I mentioned a 280z if you were thinking of importing a US based car as this would be LHD and you can get them a bit cheaper than what 240z's are fetching these days. The 240z will always be the most desirable model from a collectabiltity point of view, but if you're just looking for a car you can drive and enjoy I'd go for a newer 280z - less likely to be rusty and comes with fuel injection that can be upgraded / improved etc.. George_Zed Posted October 16, 2013 Author Posted October 16, 2013 Thanks a lot Gav240z I am sure there are hundreds of threats about that issue but you were very cool to give me an answer I'll check this more Quote
