CH105 Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Hi there, Looking for the rubber version not the braided one, both pipes either side of the valve please. Prefer new or very good condition. Have paypal, new to this forum but regular on Hybridz.org (24OZ) Many thanks. George Quote
pauly_adams Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 hi George, I just use a thick wall rubber hose, I run a L28et in my 280zx and have had no issues over the last few years Quote
C.A.R. Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 The moulded hoses are only available for LHD S30's atm. Maybe RHD hoses will become available in the not to distant future... You can buy just straight vacuum hose that will do the job, but I sense you are after the OEM moulded type? Quote
sexual_sushi Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 I just bought normal straight vacuum hose today for this. I'm going to have a go at bending a wire inside the hose to keep it's shape. I'll let you know how it goes. I noticed that Goodyear Rep says they can do moulded lines on their website, I'm not sure if this is a viable option though for one off's or small orders though. Definitely interested if anyone comes up with other ideas. Quote
Riceburner Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Enzed stock this type of thing. It's a spring sleeve that goes over your straight rubber hose, then just bend it to required shape with no kinks. Quote
CH105 Posted February 25, 2013 Author Posted February 25, 2013 Thanks for the input guys. I'm looking for the moulded OEM look, I've seen those spring type things that go on the outside but they stand out too much for me. If I can't source one, I will try inserting a copper pipe and bending it to shape. Sensual sushi please let me know how you get along. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 OK so I just used some wire I had lying around which is too big to actually use but it seems to work pretty well! I reckon if I can halve the diameter of the wire that would do the trick. Can anyone see any issue with having a wire internal to this vacuum hose (I would obviosuly trim it to be shorter than the rubber hose)? It should stay in place due to the kinks etc. Here is the clean hose next to the original And the braided sleeve hose next to the original. Does anyone know where you can by straight braided vacuum hose instead of using a sleeve like this? I would just need to cut and heatshrink the ends to keep it together then get some new hose clamps and good to go Quote
benny Posted February 28, 2013 Posted February 28, 2013 here you go sushi... just find one with the right I.D http://www.ebay.com.au/sch/i.html?_trksid=p3984.m570.l1313&_nkw=black+braided+hose&_sacat=0&_from=R40 Quote
Brabham Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Do Nissan do them? Might be worth a try, they are normally pretty good. Quote
fluegel Posted March 4, 2013 Posted March 4, 2013 Does anyone know how hoses are bent. My suspicion is that they use rubber that is only half vulcanised (not available to the public) clamp it in a mold and cook it which completes the process and sets the shape. Quote
sexual_sushi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Last night I finally made up the hose. It loks alright, a few little modifications and I think it will be fine. http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,12802.0.html Benny I think those hoses on eBay aren't specifically vacuum hose. They would work for a while but then they weaken and the hose would just collapse meaning no or little brake booster Quote
C.A.R. Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 This is the hose you can use to replicate the braided Vac booster hose: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Datsun-240z-260z-Gas-Tank-Braided-Evaporator-Vent-Hose-NEW-OEM-Nissan-/271204486988?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A240Z&hash=item3f250c0f4c&vxp=mtr Just cut the end off with the bend in it, insert a straightened coat hanger into the line & bend to shape Quote
sexual_sushi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Ahh cool, thanks Lurchos, although it is not "Vacuum" hose either? Quote
benny Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 or this? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/0049-Jaguar-Etytpe-Sedans-Cloth-Braided-Vacuum-Hose-/370753695112?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item5652a46d88&_uhb=1 Quote
sexual_sushi Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 That looks like it will do the trick I was hoping you could just by it by the meter in Aus but I guess not :S Quote
aircobra Posted March 6, 2017 Posted March 6, 2017 not braided, but should work with the coathanger trick? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/10mm-ID-Silicone-Vacuum-Hose-Black-Select-any-length-up-to-30-Metres-/261348199642?hash=item3cd9910cda:g:TLcAAOxyVaBSoeUm i measured my one to be 10mm ID, but the hose is in pretty bad shape, so it could have shrunk or expanded. what does everyone else have? PeterH Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 (edited) Depends how much you want to pay https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/master-vacuum-braided-hose-intake-for-rhd-fairlady-z https://jdm-car-parts.com/products/master-vacuum-braided-hose-for-rhd-fairlady-z I bought a set of these when our dollar was very close to the USD One of them is listed as a reproduction part...maybe there will be more around in the future Edited March 7, 2017 by PeterH Quote
aircobra Posted March 7, 2017 Posted March 7, 2017 hmm, not that much. i saw mckay have 8.8 mm plain vacuum hose, just not sure if its the right size Quote
tifino Posted March 12, 2017 Posted March 12, 2017 8.8mm is the direct conversion from 11/32", so you have the right type of hose at least. Stock auto vacuum servo hoses use */12" size ranges, due to their thicker walls (when compared to pressure/fuel hose walls) Considering their cost, it's a pity many of the Mackay hoses don't have an inbuilt check valve Quote
