I thought I'd put up some info on what I've learn't with Datsun gearbox thrust bearing carriers.

Alot of variables here as clutch covers vary in height and clutch fork pivot inside the bellhousing is adjustable.

Generally there is a large bearing for the 225mm (6cyl) clutch covers and a small bearing for 200mm (4cyl) clutch cover, both interchangeable on carriers.

In my experience there is five different sizes, measured from bottom to bearing base they are 39mm 34mm 29mm 27mm 25mm.

Of these five maybe the second 34mm is aftermarket? seems to be steel, while all the rest are nissan cast.

What I can say is on my tall heavy duty 57mm cover i use a 25mm carrier

On my custom low HD 42mm cover I use a 39mm carrier

Standard 6cyl covers appear to be 47mm tall, pretty confident 39mm is the standard fitment here, given i have about 10 of them!

feel free to add.

You can get away with an up to 4mm thick spacer ring sitting under the thrust bearing, f required.

Also, a "fixed" length clutch slave pushrod can be converted into a threaded adjstable length pushrod, but, you do need to also drill a hole in the clutch fork dimple ( gearbox needs to he out)

Hi all, I just put my new box in a few days ago and I thought I would say that if your pressure plate and thrust bearing come from the same motor they will be correctly matched. What would be fantastic would be a list of throwout bearing carrier sizes with their corresponding pressure plate heights which would make mixing and matching gearboxes much easier.

Suitability / compatibility has nothing to do with motor or gearbox. All you need is for the throwout bearing, bearing carrier and pressure plate to all match. And obviously pressure/clutch plate diameter has to match the flywheel

Isn't that what the OP has already done?

I was thinking matching them up in a list with their pressure plate heights such as

57mm Pressure plate - 25mm Carrier

42mm Pressure plate - 39mm carrier

etc.
