So a month of sundays latter the car is all clean. i have taken the time to remove all of the under body coating as well as the sound deadener and all the seam sealer (well all the seam sealer i can get to) I'm happy that there are not too many areas of concern that have arisen. The worst new area i have found seems to be the rear quarter panel around the fuel filler. i will probably need to remove it to fix it. i also have a timelapse of the whole process might edit it and upload some time. Hi peoples So i when i purchased my 1977 260z it came in boxes..... i have inventoried all of the parts that i have and have found that the main items i am missing are all of the Right Hand (drivers) side door components. i have found some of these parts internationally through the usual sources but i would like to see if i can source them a bit more locally. Im Located in Melbourne. i am looking for the following parts: 1. internal door lock mechanism including internal door handle 2. external door handle and linkage 3. door lock barrel 4. window winder (i have both but one is broken) also would be interested in a matching pair 5. chrome window frame 6. chrome window sill 7. window regulator mechanism 8. window slide rails (pair) 9. Door hinges Mounting hardware ie bolts screws and what not would be a bonus Also willing to purchase a complete door with all the parts i have attached photos of the LHS parts i am looking for, for reference. As i understand it, my car being a 77 they match more with the late 280z parts than other 260z's Thanks for any help peoples can give me and very happy to negotiate a fair price Paul

i had the same idea with the dry ice .... well liquid nitrogen.... im a chemist nice info good for anyone else insane enough to do theirs. can't wait until mine is done and i can get onto to the metal work. i look forward to mine looking as good as yours

im doing the exact same job at the moment on my 260z. i have been having good results with heat and a multitool scraper, i have done about 1/3 of the car over the past week of evenings after work. i have noticed that some parts have been tougher than others, like the left side of the car the pitch coating was maybe sprayed on hotter, or like a one bloke at the factory did the left side and a different bloke did the right. But i must agree its one hell of a job, congrats getting it done its looking good.

Well with the car safely tucked away in its new home work can begin. i have decided to fully strip all of the sound deadening and underbody coating off and look for any hidden rust in the process. i have so far found the beginnings of some corrosion here and there but nothing major so far. ....... it such a horrible job...... but its coming along just getting a bit done each night after work. The plan is to then address the panel and metal work, and get the thing fulley striped to bare metal and get it into some epoxy primer. enjoy the photos Paul weapons of choice

So with the completion of the shed and some modifications to the rotisserie, my car is finally home. it has been living in the inlaws garage which is so close i decided to put some fat tires on the rotisserie and just roll it round the corner. Plus it needed to go across the grass in the backyard. Enjoy the over engineering and thanks to my old man and brother for the push. now to begin the body repairs Paul

@GongZ Thanks, i had to think long and hard how i was going to maximise space in the garage to fit everything in comfortably and the shelf worked out well. thing is we are still looking at buying a house so i don't want to put too much effort in that i cant take with me. Indeed the turn signals are all orange, have no idea as to the reason may have been replaced at some stage or maybe the car was an import, dont know how i would find out. All the lights i have are in the photos above i have noticed the pic of all the wiring looms is not there I will add that, this is what you get when you buy a car in boxes i have a front splitter that incorporates light and a rear wing that came with the car, that may go some way to explain things? im not going to use the splitter and wing im not a fan of the look. i am also missing the RHS door hinges, all off the chrome for that door and all of the internal parts locks window mechanism ect, fortunately i do have the glass. but otherwise for a disassembled vehicle i dont think im doing too badly, o and keys no keys Thanks for the interest Paul

So with the shed 98% complete and while the weather was too hot to work i thought i would go ahead and to a full inventor and repacking of all the parts i have for the car. i also thought i would take some photos of the process. The photos show all the parts i recieved with the car (well almost all i still have a few more photos to go shell, doors, bonnet, boot lid, engine gearbox diff ect) there are a few parts i have no idea what they are yet but that just adds to the fun. There are some parts missing, all of the RHS door parts are MIA. O and a late model toyota camry rear bumper support got in the photos ...... dont ask...... So first update time, 260Z new home So with house hunting still ongoing the Z needs a temporary yet sturdy home, im fortunate enough to be able to build what i like in the backyard (inlaws are the landlords) so here is the build. Simple frame almost completely salvaged materials, paved floor (didnt want to poor concrete) mezzanine shelf for additional storage of parts. Little bit of arranging some space and it will be ready to have the shell move in. I have also begun to inventory all the parts i have (see next post) Have fun and drive safe. Paul

Hi @ Gav yeah the battery area is the worst spot looks like someone had a go at ti in the past and did a pretty average job, but will be able to sort it out. Yeah the ding on the rear quarter is a bit of a nasty one but should be able to beat it out as you say will be aiming for minimal filler. @ peter Unfortunately thats not my garage (its living at the in laws at the moment) im building one in the back yard at the moment to house the car. it will be a little wider but not much. and yes i have had the same thoughts about the rotisserie at the moment you cant rotate it all the way around and its a two person job. if you stuffed up the roof would hit the ground, very not ideal. will sort this out once i get things settled in its new home.

Hi peoples My name is Paul So i dun did a thing and got myself a '77 260Z, well most of a 260Z, pretty sure i got all the bits, most of the bits........ I have been a lurker on this for a while now, thought i would reserve my first post for when i had a car. I have been looking for one for a while now but figured i wouldn't be able to afford a nice one (at least all in one go to buy one) so i decided to go with a project in progress. under no illusions that restoring a car is a cheap endeavor. The dream is to restore the car back to its former self with a few little mods here and there like suspension, brakes ect. The shell looks like its in pretty good shape with a few little issues here and there. looks like the battery tray has had a bit of a hack job done to it and the outside of the shell is in black etch primer with some dents ripples and a few rust holes. The rotisserie came with the car I'm thinking the first step will be to get the car media blasted and put in epoxy primer for the beginning of the bodywork, I have lots to learn never taken on a project at this scale before but i would like to do as much as i can myself.i have a few mate with a bit of experience with restorations like this so lots of support.
