  1. In this episode I install the electric fuel pump and tidy up some more of the engine bay in the 680g
  2. This week I finish up the Toyota big brake upgrade on the 680g.
  3. Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing day to you all. Today I tinkered a bit and I got the carbies installed
  4. In this episode I attempt the Toyota 'Big Brake' upgrade on the Z, and also tidy up that rear end.
  5. Time to start bolting on some shiny bits to the 680G
  6. I will have a play with the one I have. If I can turn it around and still get it mounted without being under too much tension I will.
  7. So from my research, most cars seem to have the moustache bar in 'backwards' and behind the uprights compared to that picture above. Are they all supposed to be as shown in that pic or not. What do you guys all have?
  8. I have had a whole heap of advice over the last few days from a bunch of different sources and the issue is that the image here is correct for that year, but they changed it several times, and there are several different parts that changed from year to year, not just model to model. In my case, the car is a 71, the gearbox, diff, etc, etc, could be from anywhere. From what I have now been told, the early cars had the moustache bar further forward, but there were issues with the angle of the axels and they wore out faster, so they moved the diff further back. For my situation I think the best way for me to get the correct clearances, is to make up a simple 5mm spacer to put between the diff and the moustache bar. Otherwise I could be banging my head against a brick wall for ages trying to source all of the different moustache bars and diffs, etc until I actually find the right combination that fits.
  9. The issue I have seen and that has been pointed out to me, is that different years had different bars and some of them had the curls of the moustache bars going one way and some years the other way. That is also the case, that some moustache bars go on one side of the upright bracing and some went on the other side.
  10. This week I tackle the driveline, and try to make this collection of random parts work together.
  11. This week I get some help to put the engine and box back into the car.
  12. Time to install the clutch and gear box, getting ready to reinstall the engine to the car
  13. This week I tackle the sound deadening but not everything went to plan...
  14. In this episode I go through tidying up and finishing of more of the interior trim.
  15. This week my challenge was to make new door trims for the 680g and I decided to give diamond stitched inserts a go.
  16. I talk about it in the headliner video, but basically Alcantara is the brand name of a type of Micro Suede. Micro Suede is what you are looking for. I got mine from a big Motor Trimming supplier in Sydney, Daleys.
  17. The factory plastic trim pieces for my 240z are all cracked and broken, so this week I repaired them and covered them in alcantara.
  18. I finally finished painting all of the parts for my 240z.
  19. Today I started to replace the wiring in the car and getting it ready for the engine.
  20. Now most of the painting is done, I realised I didn't know what I needed to to next so it was time to formulate a plan.
  21. Today's task was to paint the rest of the parts for the 680, but it didn't exactly go to plan..
  22. Wow the paint looks great in the sun! This week I unmask the car, and do something with those nasty mirrors.
  23. It has been a whole lot more work than I had hoped, but I finally have the car in paint.
  24. Fantastic. The more on here giving it a go the better. Maybe @260DET can edit the first post on this thread with Zcar leaderboard, or we can start a new thread with one? I am doing that on Porsche Forum Australia. The only issue I have is that as I drive Bathurst with a GT3 as well, it only gives the ghost option for your fastest time regardless of car, so I can't get a ghost for the Z. P.S. If any are interested I have a 2:08.691 in the GT3 R.
  25. Just managed to drop a good amount off my time and there is still a bunch more in it. Now down to a 2:25.940. I have been waiting for my name to show up on the leaderboard, and then I realised it is only for those using PC. I am on Xbox, so I can't compete for that list.
