  1. 4.375 will be great if it is, you'd run out of revs at Philip island and bathurst with it though. no probs send it through. i have photos from when she was a bone stock road car as well. the differences i can see form when i had it are the cage and interior strip out, plus if it has willwood brakes now then those have changed, plus theres been some work to the injection system. i had 300ZX vented fronts an AU falcon rears on it. the spolier and wheels i put on it, though i used lighter 16 inch rims for the track. Will have to change my profile pic now that the new owner has turned up!
  2. Nah wasn't me. I had the car in Sydney, bough it in 99, was a nsw car all its life before I sold it to Noel in 07 or 08
  3. It was a street car that I used to supersprint. If it's still the original LSD then it's a 3.7. Since your tracking it you can run a 4.1 pretty easily. I put the coil overs and adjustable suspension in it and put the injection rail on it. The motor was 2.95 litres when I had it. L14 rods bored out and a ported P90 Head. Good to see it still kicking around! Will try and find some old photos
  4. Ohhhh that's my old car! I could probably still answer a lot of questions about it if you have them.
  5. it will probably have an effect yes. set them at 24 and measure them hot when they come in. adjust them to 30 hot ( don't wait for them to cool down ). you dont want them any hotter than 30-31
  6. 205/50' 15's would mean we can get a whole meet out of a set of tyres = cheaper. 'run on' brakes ( say from an S31 ), or Z432R spec would mean we'd stop warping and replacing discs. it is what it is though, gotta suck it up and concentrate on your driving to beat as many porkers as possible.
  7. agreed. i blistered a set last weekend. 195/60's are just too small for the speed and weight of an S30. you can watch the vettes and Porkers on all but the slowest two corners just drive away with mid corner grip, we are absolutely maxed out. im still in favour of getting rid of the 60 series tyre.
  8. yes, Bosch jetronic i think ( someone correct me if im wrong ) which is functional , though the nissan throttle body and intake is not as good as a triple weber setup. it still punches out good power, though we are short on most of the 3 litre Porsches, especially at 2.8 litres. the top 4-5 porsches have significantly more grunt, after that its a little more even.
  9. speaking of.... race 5 view from the datto, you can see the advantage the vette's and panteras have on open circuits ( especially over us ).... Bathurst/PI they have it over the top porsches. I think the porches will still clean up at eastern creek and any smaller track.
  10. yeah its the S30 shell. I think triple webers would still be better than the fuel injection, though thats against the rules anyway. suspect the FI is better than the dual carbies on 240/260s.
  11. Yep an import 280Z is exactly where'd I'd start if I were going from scratch
  12. Second race of the weekend from the 280Z
  13. group S has loads of Porkers these days, though a well built and driven Zed should see off all but the top handful of them. its an enjoyable category for the zeds too as your racing against period relevant cars. very restricted mods helps with costs ( though racing is never cheap )
  14. wow.... some good avoidance going on there....
  15. We managed 3rd in the last group S race. Holding 4th here - groupsracing @groupsracingaustralia had me on the - edgeofmyseat at the - phillip ( 750 X 750 ).mp4
  16. Need to see a nagari in front of us before I can believe that!
  17. We have a few zeds running in group S and reg this weekend. Pics and vids to come
  18. depends on the class your running. in group S you're on stock pickup points, stock struts, stock brake setup. the rules have been the same for so long that for most tracks the ideal toe/castor/camber/ anti-roll on the stock equipment is well known so there's not a lot to talk about. the motor and driver makes a huge difference in that class because of that.
  19. 7500 plus rpm means its useless for the road. it doesn't really get into its groove till 5800. would be horrible on the road.
  20. could be time to stick that in group S
  21. a 6K redline engine would be a mid pack car, still lots of fun. you need the extra 1500 rpm to be on the first few rows.
  22. im only the part time driver so not sure on the ratio's, its Steve Smiths car. Jason might know the box ratio's better than i would, he put it in, though they are stacked fairly close. tyre size is a 195/60 14 diff ratio for eastern creek is a 4.4 RPM change is generally 7300 to 7500, though off the start it tends to see 7800 in first and second gears, red mist causes that.
  23. cheers. they've got more grunt, more grip and bigger brakes so you have to drive the tits off the Z to keep up. turn 1 is one of the only passing opportunities against the faster Porsches as not everyone is willing to go through there at 10/10ths. everywhere else they can cover us.
