I have a set of extractors off my 260Z. Has the rectangular shaped ports. I do not know what brand they are. Includes approx. 180mm of 2 1/2" pipe after the exit flange. They are ceramic coated but the coating is starting to break down in the cluster of pipes just before the exit flange.(see photo) I live in Newcastle NSW. $250.

Gilltech. Once again thank you very much for your advice. I thought my car was a 1975 260Z but I was talking to a few fellows at the Phillip Island historics and one of them felt my car was maybe 1977 going by the style of the door opening and door catches and also mine does not have the air vent holes in the inner guards near the radiator support panel. The data plate had a rivet right through the number after 197 so I did not know what was missing. Being isolated here in Newcastle you don't get to see the work done by some of the Melbourne specialists so I am going to take the advice of those who have. Thanks again to all for your help.

Hello CAF. I had contacted the dashboard doctor and they quoted $650 plus transport to and from Newcastle so I didn't think I would get much change out of $800. I am keen on them (dashboard doctor) as I have heard they do very good work. Just looking at other options before making a decision.

I see where rhdjapan are selling new dashboard covers for $477. Has anyone bought one of these or knows anything about them? https://www.rhdjapan.com/kameari-dash-board-cover-s30.html

Jeff with the nolathane it may not matter as I don't know how they are made. I renewed all of mine with new factory metalastic bushes. If you think of the metalastic as two pieces of pipe (the inner and the outer) with rubber bonded between them and you clamp those pipes there is a limit to how far it will rotate before it destroys the rubber. So that is why you set them up so the rubber is not under stress when the car is parked. If the nolathane are bonded to an inner and outer pipe then I feel you would have to do the same.
-
Hello Jeff, I see back on page 11 you mention about how high the car is sitting. Did you renew all the metalastic bushes in the suspension. If so I don't know if you are aware or not but the car needs to be sitting on the ground with the suspension loaded before you tension up the pivot points other wise you will ruin the new bushes.

I have for sale the following items.(My car is a 260Z) The original distributor that was in my car with two new sets of points and one new condensor. A coil that I recently bought if you are NOT using a resistor. A distributor that came with the car (no brand or writing on it) that looks near new. A full set of Eagle 9.0mm Hi-temp silicone spiral core plug leads.(with coil lead) The voltage regulator that was on my car.(was working when removed) Would prefer to sell all together. $200 for the lot.

Hello Gilltech, That photo above is not my car. That was AndBir showing me what he had. But between his photo and your advice I will be able to put it back together correctly when I start rebuilding after the panel beater has finished.
-
Hello AndBir. Thanks for the photo. As they say "a picture is worth a thousand words."

Hello Gilltech, Thanks for that comment about the support bracket. I assume you are talking about the hollow where the rubber would sit. I have put both mudguards on ready for going back to the panel beaters so I will straighten them out when we remove the guards at the panel beaters. As for your comment about the scuttle panel in front of the windscreen there is no sign on my car where they may have been. Can you describe exactly where or do I just put something near the centre for support? I feel all the previous owners must wear a blue and white stripped apron as all I have done for the last four years is fix stuff ups and now rust that even the panel beater says was "well hidden".

Thanks a lot for all the help. At least I know what to do now when I start rebuilding after panel beater is finished.

I have two Carter 4594 fuel pumps for sale. One was on my car when I bought it and was working fine although I felt it was a bit noisy so I have recently bought a different type of pump. The other I bought at a swap meet and have never tried it but it actually looks better than the one that was on the car. Their specs are 5-9psi and up to 72gph. (From Summit website) I would like $70 for the two of them. (plus postage) I live near Newcastle NSW

Thanks very much Leonard for your time. I assume it would have to be some sort of tar impregnated foam so as not to promote corrosion. And fairly dense too. I will look around for something suitable.

Hello. I was hoping someone would know what the three brackets are for up in the top of the front wheel arch and maybe the other longer one in closer to the engine bay. All are shown in my two photos. Thanks.

Thanks for all the input. The original 260Z colours were not as exciting as the 240Z colours and I feel these cars respond better to a bright colour like a lot of the 240Z colours. For those that are old enough to remember there were a lot of bright colours in the 70's. I had a friend who had "granny smith" apple green shag pile carpet and Laminex on the kitchen benchtop.

theremm. Thanks for your advice. My friend who I mentioned above says the same as you said in your last paragraph.

Hello Scotty. I am 69 years old and with the total outlay currently way above what I could sell the car for you have to take these things into consideration. I have tried to keep the car "period correct" in all that I have done. I am not rebuilding the car to sell but at my age you have to think ahead.

Hello. My car is a 1975 260Z. The original colour appears to be a goldy looking brown. At some time in its hard life it has been resprayed an iridescent green. I have been getting rust cut out and unfortunately due to the amount of rust (that was well hidden) I am up for a full respray. (and a serious amount of money) I don't really like the green and was going to go for a solid green like "British racing green" but a friend advised me that the colour should be one of the original colours available when new. My wife really likes 918 Orange and I am now keen on it as well but the problem is that was not a 260Z colour. My question is am I destroying the value of my car by going for a non original 260Z colour?

Gilltech, Thanks very much for your input. It is really great how we all try to help each other do jobs without wrecking things.

I have a 1975 260Z. In the wiring for the head lights, parking lights and blinkers there are small white connectors. Is it possible to remove the wires from inside these connectors and how do you do it? Thanks You would not believe it after trying for ages I have just worked it out. For anyone else interested I used a piece of hard plastic tube that fits over the male part in the connector and inside the hole in the white connector, push it in firmly and then pull the wire out the back of the connector. There are two little barbs on the male part that catch inside the connector and the plastic tube makes these lay down so you can pull the wire out. Now I have just got to work out the female part.

Hello PB260Z. Yes you are right. I am trying to do things correctly. It is just becoming a bit depressing at the amount of money I am going through. My wife is actually more positive about the whole thing so that makes it a bit better.

Hello AndBir. Thanks very much for your advice. I have just ordered one from your link.

Hello Leon. Thanks very much for your time. I have been getting rust cut out and things are going from bad to worse so now have decided to remove engine and tidy up the engine bay before painting.
-
Thank you all very much for your time. After I had wrote the question about the hinges I was looking on google and I found a brand new pair for sale ($895) and they were zinc gold. I have been getting rust cut out of my car and have discovered that someone in the past has done a good job of hiding the rust so now up for a full respray when rust work complete. So I am just trying to ensure that I keep things looking as it was in the day and not just apply paint because it may be easier. I am surprised how many things were zinc gold when car was new.

I have a 1975 260Z. Could someone tell me what colour the bonnet hinges were when new. Are they painted the same colour as the car or are they that zinc gold finish like a lot of the other parts. Thanks.
