  1. Hi all, In search of a standard exhaust manifold. Thanks in advance. Anthony
  2. It's all good, I ended up buying and r34 grr one for $60 on impex. I just cut the connector off and soldered on the old one. Works perfectly now. Think I'll achieve low 9s...joking ?. Thanks for everyones help. Cheers, Anthony
  3. Hi, Please see the attached photo. I am building a temporary one with some parts from jaycar. but having an original one would be prefered :-) Thank you, Anthony
  4. Hi Alan, It would be a series 2 (1982). Thanks, Anthony
  5. Hi all, After some testing when my car suddenly started running on 5 cylinders, we have concluded that one of the resistors in the unit is no longer working. If someone has one available, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Anthony
  6. Bit of a further update. ECU is in and the interior is back together. Driving it daily getting the tunning right. Been pretty good. Got 500ks from 60 liters. Just need to order some intake piping so I can properly delete the idle screw (after market TB has one inbuilt),install the icv in a much neater fasion, also remove the bcdd and the egr valve. Last step electrical wise is to get the tacho working and also tidy up some of the wiring that I'm not happy about.
  7. Hmmmm, just need to tidy up the wiring and set the timming...then it's tunning time :-P
  8. Sorry, no pics ATM. Took a little longer to get the o2 sensor bung welded in, couldn't remove the section of the exhaust so we had to do it using Jack stands :-p . also, that webber throttle body i got was a pain to install, had to cut a section of the unused linkage mounting because it would foul against the manifold and it also lacks the ICV provition so I used the original piping and placed it where the cold start valve goes, perfect fit. Anyway, found a spot next to the brake booster to mount the coil packs, and swapped the dizzy over to the turbo one. Also had fun removing all the unnecessary parts of the intake manifold. Pretty much only have wiring to do which I can hopefully finish off tomorrow and attempt starting it :-D
  9. Wiring is getting there. Hoping to install it this weekend, just need to get an oxygen senor bung plug welded to the exhust which im hopping my mate can help me with. I tested the turbo distributor using a drill while hooked up to the PC and tunner studio seemed to display the RPM just fine. I may use this temporary setup while I figure out a solution on how to mount a vr sensor and the trigger wheel. It will make for a cleaner install if I can successfully go this route and remove the dizzy all together :-)
  10. Well, bit of progress, managed to finally gather all the bits I needed to replace the fuel rail with a much cleaner looking one. Also I have replaced the injectors with some EV1 style 210cc low impedance bosch injectors (Some porsche apparently used these, hard to find low impedance low cc injectors). I'm going adjust the AFM a little to lean the mixture as it's running richer when you plant your foot down. Just need to go to jaycar tomorrow to grab a few more bits so I can begin to wire up the megasquirt. Here's some unflattering pictures of the work so far. I also removed that silly metal coolant line that goes across the front of the engine cover to the idle control valve. This will be removed once I install the megasquirt as I will be using an ICV out of a volvo. Also the throttle body i will be using does not require coolant to run through it.
  11. My alarm has remote start, so I have joked a bit when I talk to the remote and ask "Kit" to start up. :-p
  12. Also will add that you will constantly have to press the speed unit button every time you start the car to get it into km's. But next time I remove the dash I'm going to close the circuit for the button which should keep it in Kmh.
  13. I ended up taking the lazy way out and used a loom from the US. Plug and play, only thing I also needed to get was a new temp gauge sensor (Digital specific). The fuel gauge also only lights up on the right side as you need a digital dash specific unit as well, but I don't really need the 1/4 - 1/8 part. I haven't had a chance to extend the wires to rehook the center guages and glovebox light.
  14. Hi All, Thought id give everyone a little update. After owning the car for the last 4 months it hasn't missed a beat. Engine definitely feels strong and no major issues have arisen. Only bump in the road was an accident I had last month where I was hit in the left quarter panel. Big thanks to PB260Z for supplying me a replacement indicator and I finally got the car back yesterday. Additions I have been able to do to the car was a digital dash from the US (Don't ask, I'm a corny lover of 80's retro tech) and I replaced the plastic 82 model side pillars with the earlier chrome equivalents (I think they look better) and added an alarm so I can feel somewhat secure. I also obtained a Weber 60mm throttle body which I have yet the time to install. My main focus now is getting megasquirt setup in motion once all the parts I need have arrived. I was originally going to get a turbo distributor and oil drive to do this, but after ordering these I realized the Megasquirt 2 I owned from my old 525i is wired up for a VR crank wheel (Expect to see these on the for sale section when they arrive :-p ). I have now purchased a Hoke Performance trigger kit and will be looking at modifying a stock dampener so I am able to retain power steering and A/C. I also have purchased a replacement fuel rail to tidy up the factory trombone mess that it is. I am not really looking to gain power from this endeavour, but my focus will be to improve the overall efficiency of the car and modernise it a little. Anyway, i'll keep everyone posted once i've made more progress. Also, if anyone that knows a good machine shop that will be able to remove some meat off a Harmonic balancer please let me know. Cheers, Anthony
  15. Hey all, Looking for a standard harmonic balancer for the L28. Hopefully not too rusted ;-) I just realized the megasquirt I have will not work with an optical dizzy as it was wired for my old BMW with a trigger wheel setup. I suppose this is more of an advantage anyway as I will easily be able to use the wasted spark setup I already have or maybe go with the ford EDIS. If anyone can help me out please let me know. Thank you, Anthony
  16. Bit of an update, insurance has approved the repairs. Taking it in on Tuesday and should hopefully have it back on Friday :-). Whole front of the car is getting resprayed.
  17. As said above, you'd be better off going after market, then you could use part of the N/A loom. I'll be using a mega squirt in my n/a once I get the funds together for the turbo dizzy/oilpump/gear spline. (Had a mega squirt 2 extra left over from my old 5 series.).
  18. Hey, thanks for the indicator, fitted it the other night(Been busy with work). ended up the only difference in the left and right indicator is the rubber mount. Fitted perfectly. As for the repair, and assesor has to come out but there's still another week wait due to a back log. I'll have to update my introduction post soon as I have added a few features and fixes to the car.
  19. Rebuild the whole motor with change....or by a rocker cover....
  20. I'll take both off your hands as a set. Just let me know how much and pm me your preferred way of accepting payment.
  21. Is the crack just through the lens? or the whole unit? I do have a set of new replacement lenses.
  22. awesome, had the panel shop look at it earlier today and they'll try and slot it in sometime next week. So hopefully your one is in good shape. I manage to save the rubber seal.
  23. Yep, that's the one.
  24. Was in an accident yesterday where some old lady decided that merging into my lane when doing 50kmh and I was doing 70kmh was a good idea. "I turn now, good luck everybody else's!" Luckily only damage was dinted left front panel but she did take the indicator clean off. If anyone knows where I can get one or has one available I'd really appreciate it. Cheers, Anthony
  25. Hi, Here's a pic of what I need. It's located on the bottom of the intake manifold. Thanks, Anthony
