  1. Great day and great company! Thanks for organising it PB, where to next?!
  2. Hi Linton, Many thanks for your feedback! My repair manual really isn't clear on the process and only really provides the clearance measures. I've done a bit more searching and reading which has sufficiently jogged the memory so tomorrow is the day. Cheers Tony
  3. To the collective brainstrust! Can anyone help me with a step by step guide for the above process? I last did this around 38yrs ago on my then 1600 so need a refresh please. Tks Tony
  4. I visited and looked at this car around 4 or 5 years ago, this is the same add and price I saw at the time. At that time I also asked about the yellow car but was told he had just sold it to someone in WA....and the add still exists for both of them in Unique Cars 5 years on?!?
  5. No problems at all!! Sunday 20/3 suits me fine so I'll make a tentative entry in the calendar awaiting confirmation Cheers Tony
  6. Hi Peter, Any further thoughts re. date options? Cheers Tony
  7. G'day, I'm happy with either but would prefer Windsor....and a Sunday if possible?! Look forward to it!
  8. Thanks, was thinking around that just for the carbies.
  9. Am about to buy (payment on collection) a complete used L28 apparently from a wrecked 240Z. Although the add says L23(?) I've confirmed by engine # it is an L28. The job lot includes - Twin Hitachi's, alternator, fuel pump, exhaust, auto gearbox etc Before I part with any hard earned cash thought I would ask what the going rate would be for such a package?? Tks Tony
  10. Hi Peter, Very sorry for the late withdrawal, family commitments in Newcastle but I very much hope there will be another opportunity early in the New Year?! Cheers Tony
  11. G'day Ian, Shame I missed you but it was just a bit too damp and one of the few times I've let it get wet! Re exterior colour, I believe it was originally a bronzey colour. The interior has been redone in beige, don't think it was the original colour but don't really know. I bought the car 3yrs ago whilst I was living in Perth and put it into storage. When I relocated back to the Blue Mountains earlier this year I finally found the time (& money!) to get it sorted and registered. I'm currently a member of the ARDC. I had planned to come along to the next Saturdays run from Richmond up thru the mountains to meet some forum members and seek some advice but unfortunately have other commitments so next time! Cheers Tony
  12. GongZ....yep, my car! It was a nice drive and good show spoiled by crappy weather. It was good to see, albeit briefly, some the other Z's before we pulled the pin early.
  13. Sounds great, my first run....it's in my diary!
  14. The housing on my front right indicator has broken so am hoping someone has one spare for sale?
  15. Hi Ben, I can certainly recommend SW Motorsport, Stewart did a great job getting my car prepared for its Blue Slip and its about to be booked in again for its next check up! Cheers Tony
  16. Been away in Sth Africa for a few weeks holiday so only now catching up on things...thanks for the welcome and yes I will look out for the Sydney drives! Still sorting out the locking, hope to have it returned to standard key locking this weekend as I am off to Targa Tasmania next Friday!
  17. Hi and thanks dat2kman! Perhaps first let me try to explain what it's doing so you can advise if it is in fact the ignition switch. When you turn the key all the way past On to Start on fires bit stop when you release the key... However...if you turn the key to On then ever so slowly and slightly turn it past On towards Start it will fire and stay on when you release the key. Other nice feature is it will occasionally instantly loose all power and cut out but start again immediately using the above method so have assumed something in the switch /tumbler causes the power cut?! Anyway that's my best description and have assumed a new ignition switch will fix it?? Thanks for your thoughts!
  18. Likewise mine is playing up! Searched the forum for threads and found yours so was wondering how you got on?? What tricks are required to replace it and where did you source a new one and keys? Cheers Tony
  19. It is pretty original, plan is to keep it that way with only minor cosmetics left to do....like making sure I can lock the doors
  20. Sure was/is, I pick it up tomorrow after having the impact of it sitting garaged and inactive for quite a while corrected. It's now pretty much ready for its Blue Slip so hope to take my first drive very soon!
  21. A few shots for those interested
  22. Thank you, yes my preference is to remove it but need to determine what mechanism has been left in the doors as the pull up buttons are simply sitting in their holes connected to nothing! I of course have plenty of picks but first need to check file size regs before posting.
  23. Hi! I finally 2 yrs ago bought the Z car I lusted over as a kid washing cars at the local Datsun centre in the mid 70's. It's a 1973 240z which I haven't actually driven yet but hope to have it on the road within the next few weeks. Sat up for a few hours last night sifting through some really interesting threads so look forward to more reading and hope to eventually find some guidance on how to fix my electronic central locking.... don't understand why it was fitted in the first place?!
