  1. When I bought my last RenaultSport, I flew to Canberra, paid 10k in cash and drove back with my Dad all the way to Adelaide, across the Hay Plains at sunrise - was epic All part of the adventure Buyers risk, but a good way to get to know a new acquisition.
  2. Lovely car mate, and now I can see why it pulled away so nicely on the on ramp.. Hopefully see you around , i'm in an orange RSM 225 Cup. Dan
  3. Couldn't see a Sighting thread, please move if in the wrong area. Out for my Lofty walk this morning and a beautiful white 24/60Z at the intersection in Nairne. Followed me to the freeway and then I followed him to Stirling. Looked like it had had a full resto , immaculate and with an aftermarket exhaust. Went very well too... Anyone one here? Plates SUD #76 i think from memory.. or similar..
  4. I saw your car mate yesterday at the Tollgate heading to the City - new owners taking it home? Looked awesome and definitely inspired me to get into a Z again soon. Good luck with the new project Dan
  5. Gorgeous mate - and local too What would be involved with getting it thru Regency? EDIT: Just read to whole build thread - great work! Will have to pop past when im next in MB. Dan

  8. Hi All. Just wondering if anyone on here would have seen , or has, my old 240Z. I owned in around 15yrs ago, in Payneham, SA. I checked on Ezyreg , and it comes up listed , but says unregistered. Anyone doing a resto? Old pic of it below: It was a 71 I think, manual and original.
  9. Don't worry. Car has been sold already..
  10. Thanks mate. Any pics of yours for comparison? PM me if u like.
  11. Would this be an original colour Gav? May take a look adjust down the road from me.
  12. Very very nice indeed if so.. Was just walking down to get the mail and noticed it at the local garage having some work done. Dark yellow, roll cage, black bonnet.
  13. Damn, wish i had the funds, looks tidy..
  14. Thanks for the heads up guys, very helpful I will ask re paint, hadn't spotted that. re the Gas, is it the black lines and black box indicated below? Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  15. Any thoughts on this car guys? Front indicators look to have been relocated? Any issues you can see with removing the gas setup and running as a daily? Also see it here on Carsales: http://www.carsales.com.au/private/details/Datsun-240Z-1973/SSE-AD-2475060/?Cr=0&sdmvc=1 Dan

Thanks to Paul and the Z crew for making me feel welcome, you have a great community here in SA. What an awesome turnout of Z's never seen so many in one spot. Cheers to the dyno boys too for looking after my baby on the rollers. Happy with the result too. Won't ever forget seeing Paul's RB Ute on the rollers with the lads on the back for traction, classic! And what a weapon!
  17. Cocker Spaniel;... damm that autocorrect! Didn't ask re interest, prolly should have, can wait for next time if i decide to pursue it. He's a pretty eccentric guy, fit the car perfectly , old skool..
  18. Good points G. Material was tear free and seemed fairly supple still, would still probably benefit from some treatment tho. re the security thing, i guess its lasted 39 yrs, so that bodes well Worse case , insurance will cover anything else. Not going to be a daily driver so its not so much of an issue and its secure at home, we have a fierce Cocker Spaniel that will lick anyone to death..
  19. Yeah I recon it fits with the period well. Good locking mechanism too.
  20. Some more pics: Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  21. So I went to take a look at the Z yesterday Nice guy who has definitely taken care of it and kept it super original. He has another 260Z auto that he uses as his daily driver, so this one resides in the shed most of the time. Have to say that for a 39 yr old car it was in pretty good nik. The interior still has the original carpet and stereo. General condition was one that needs lots of TLC and the odd thing repair, but not one thats been messed with or 'upgraded'. Would make a good resto job as a long term keeper, but perfectly drivable in the meantime. Started first time instantly, and no smoke out the back. No leaks that i could see and coolant was nice a green. Could not see any damage or repair in the chassis rails, in fact all the panels seemed in very good condition for age, with no major rust visible and no bubbling of paint suggesting bad things underneath. Sunroof looked in very good nik, with no signs of leakage or rust, made it nice and airy too when open. Took it for a drive.. Its been a long time since I have driven a car with no P/S and OMG! Heavy as fark at low speeds. Tires looked tired and pressure a bit low, plus being fairly wide probably didn't help. Also noticed a fair bit of play around center, so rack may need some work. Slight knock on initial acceleration in driveline, put it down to a worn Uni joint in the rear, which he mentioned too and offered to take a look over his pit in the shed. (not hiding stuff imo) Went well, stopped well and bags of character for sure. Bad things: Interior: - Dash has a big crack and would need re-skinning or replacing. Any idea what they are worth? - Drivers seat has a tear - Carpets are pretty filthy and would need replacing - Seat belts are all original , meaning no inertia reels. Any idea if newer inertia style can be retrofitted for better safety? cost? - Steering wheel isn't original. - Dash needs attention, mostly just cleaning, rebuilding, TLC. Speedo was a bit intermittent at low speeds. driver cable worn? - fuel smell while driving. I know its an old car, but could this be something more serious? He suggested the breather pipe on the fuel filler may have perished. Exterior/Drivetrain: - Paint is good for age but really could do with a big cut and polish or respray, not urgent tho, superficial only - Tires on the way out, not really an issue as I always put new rubber on any car I buy. Wheels are OEM 14's may be replaced with something a little bigger but in keeping , in time. - Engine seemed healthy, maybe a bit low on power, but not surprising given age. Tune up and new fluids etc and a good service may breathe some life back in - gearbox and clutch seemed good, no slip or crunching - small knock on taking up drive may be a work propshaft spline or uni joints? - Small bit of surface rust under carpet in some areas, most looked fine. So, whats it worth? Still deliberating on the whole thing, its still a fair bit of coin which I should really be using to do mundane things like pay more of the house off or finish some of the jobs on the never ending list, but she does tempt me... If I don't grab it, someone should, as its a very original car which I imagine is fairly rare these days.

No , never been near a paint shop, might need to get some minor stone chips and stuff done in the future tho. Still comes up well tho with a good polish.
