  1. Hi XR, A long time has passed I know, but do you still have the Bride seats for sale. Thanks, Paul
  2. Just checking once again - is the rear brace still available? Cheers, Paul
  3. Do you still have these available? Happy to purchase if they are. Paul V
  4. Thanks for that - will follow up.
  5. I wanted to ask for recommendations for a spare wheel option for my 240Z. I now have 15 inch Konig wheels on the car, and am looking for a suitable 15 in wheel to use as the spare. I originally picked up a TRX rim and tyre, but it is too large (high) to sit in the wheel well with the cover on, and there is no way you can use the original clamp to secure the wheel. I looked through the technical forum and read where the 280ZX or 300 (4 wheel stud) space saver wheels may be an option, but before I go searching for this I would like to see what practical solutions other members may have come up with. I live in country NSW so I would feel more comfortable having a spare - long distance between tyre repair shops. Should I go for the space saver, or are there other rims that would meet my requirement? If anyone has a suitable option for sale, would be happy to hear from them. Can pick up in Melbourne or Sydney. Cheers, Paul
  6. Thanks for that Peter, I will follow this topic with interest. I received an email back from the supplier - Autometer is the best option. They will fit inside the stock 240Z bezel, you just need to dissemble the trim ring and it slips right inside the factory case. Any autometer 5" tachometer will work. California Datsun
  7. No - not even close to that PV. My background is Defence (Army). I am going on advice from Datsun Parts LLC when I purchased an Electronic Distributor from them a year or so back. It reads in part: "A stock tachometer will not work with this setup because its inductive pickup isn't compatible with the signal from the E12-80. There are two solutions - replace it with a 75-78 280Z tachometer and connect the tachometer sensor lug to the terminal on the E12-80 module. If it still doesn't work buy a Autometer #3990 black face tachometer". http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR0.TRC0.H0.TRS0&_nkw=Autometer+%233990+black+face+tachometer&_sacat=0 Perhaps they are talking about a US spec 280Z, and not what we have here? I will go back to them for further advice. Many thanks, Paul
  8. Hi JWalker, I am after a 280Z tachometer for my 240Z - it now has electronic ignition so has to be changed over. Would you be able to sell me the tachometer separately and if so provide a price and photo. Many thanks, PaulV
  9. I have a restored 1972 240Z that would be of interest to you - well worth looking at. Send me a text on 0428 904181. Paul V
  10. I was hoping there may be a suitable substitute at Bunnings or Clark Rubber - will let you know if I locate anything. Cheers, Paul.
  11. Has anyone found a workable replacement piece for the trim cap at the front of the rear deck? They are available at MSA but are US$85 plus freight. I was hoping someone had located a suitable substitute during their travels. Many thanks, Paul V
  12. Greetings everyone, I was wondering if any of the old hands could give me some advice please on unbolting the retaining nuts on the half shafts at the inner (differential) end. I would like to replace the universal joints while overhauling the rear suspension (LCAs) with the diff still in place. As you know, there is not much space, and when I attempted to use an open ended spanner they were difficult to budge and started to round out. Is the solution a narrow bodied 14mm socket? Many thanks, Paul.
  13. Hi everyone, Kit has been sold. I do recommend the Motorsport kit, and I am sure the Black Dragon ones represent great value as well. Cheers, Paul V
  14. I have a full weatherstrip kit excess to requirements that someone may care to purchase. The story is that last year I made enquiries for a kit to Motorsport Auto who advised that there was a delay in supply. I then went to Black Dragon automotive who had a kit which I purchased. Some months later Motorsport actioned the original order, and I ended up with two kits. I have fitted the Motorsports kit which I am very pleased with, but still have the Black Dragon kit in its shipping box, unopened. For anyone interested, have a look at the kit on the Black Dragon web site: http://www.blackdragonauto.com/features/z/ZRS1.htm It doesn't come with the adhesive which can't be sent airmail. I am happy to sell it on for $190. Cheers, Paul V Thank You for shopping with Black Dragon Automotive We are pleased to inform you that your order has been received. The details of your order have been provided below. For questions regarding your order, call 1-888-789-3746 . 15. Thanks for that - will do, Paul. If I can help anyone with a LHS roller (free), please let me know.
  16. Greetings all. Does anyone have a driver's RHS window roller that I could purchase please. I started off with none, and purchased two from the US - one each from two different suppliers. Although specifying a right and a left, as I went to place them on the 240 I found that they were both LHS. I am happy to purchase, or alternatively swap a new LHS roller (from Motorsports Auto) for a useable RHS. Many thanks, Paul V
  17. Thanks Zedman - appreciate the advice. Peter, I purchased the KYB shocks through Motorsports Auto in California. They are good value, even with the shipping cost, and the parts turn up at the front door - hard to beat. Cheers, Paul
  18. Thanks Benny - will do. P
  19. Greetings all, I intend replacing my existing tired rear springs and shocks on my 240 with new 30mm lowered King springs and KYB shocks. When I go to the manual and 'How to Restore you Z', they speak about removing the entire rear suspension to tackle this. I can vaguely recall with my earlier car back in the 90's we replaced these in situ - although it was a bit of a challenge to compress the spring far enough to clear the guard lip. Is this relatively straight forward - or do I have to go the full removal (I will have to address this anyway in the longer term). Grateful for advice Paul V
  20. Okay - issue resolved. I have now fitted Yokohama 195 x 60 x 15 tyres and there is good clearance between the tyre and the lower valance. A bit of a compromise, as I wanted the 205 tyres, but this was not to be. Thank you to those who gave advice along the way. I received further feedback from Motorsport in California, which may explain why they thought there should not be a problem: Paul, After investigating this further, I”ve determined that a lot of it may have to do with the tire tread cap. Basically, the same size tire by two different manufacturers can still be different dimensionally due to the style of tread cap used on the tire. Some tread caps are wide and some taper inward. For the most part, the tires made over here tend to have a lower profile tread cap or a tapered cap. I realized this because I found a small handful of people who had some issues with the tire size, but most didn’t. The guys who had issues went to a 205-60-15 and it eliminated the rubbing. Some even used a 215, but went to a 55 series and they work without rubbing. Some guys even decided to trim the fenders just a bit to fit the larger tires. We have Z’s here that we use for test fitting before we sell items as well, and we did not have any rubbing issues. I do thank you for pointing this out, as we take it seriously and use your feedback for improvement. Thank you, Aaron Sarkin Motorsport Auto 1139 W Collins Ave. Orange, Ca. 92867
  21. Hi. Does anyone have one of these I could purchase please - mine broke during removal of the rusted bolt and nut. Alternatively, is anyone aware of a source for these. Photo attached.
  22. Thanks Zedman - I bought the set of adjustable castors listed on Ebay a week or so back to try this - only trouble was it was only adjustable for lengthening the rod, and I need to shorten to bring the castor back - I would have to machine back from the thread to allow that. I measured and this set is the same length as the existing set on the car.
  23. Will take some photos of the wheels, tyres and valance on the weekend. I have lost track of the previous owner, but know he was preparing it for hill climb activities - I'm wondering if the castor angle was adjusted for that, but doubt it, as the present radius rods seem standard. I haven't touched the valance yet, but have another set so may end up rolling them to accommodate the tyres. Cheers, Paul
  24. MSA have advised that the offset for the wheel is the factory 0 mm; that the Konig is their best selling wheel, and that no other Z has required any modification. Does anyone think it could still be something to do with the Castor? There is no evidence of accident damage, and everything lines up well. Cheers.
