Hi all pulled my gearbox out to give a once over.I checked the ratios to see what i've got.Well all is good ,but fifth gear is 0.832 and it has normal synchro on fifth as well.Most of my checking has 280zx box with 0.863 fifth and fibre ring instead of brass synchro .Any suggestions what it is off? Hi All Made a pair of custom tie rods as per Whittie's instructions( A BIG thanks to you Whittie),also knocked up a pair of front adjustable control arms a few weeks ago .The control arms are mounted through the original holes in the cross member.I have some bumpsteer spacers, but the angle of the control arm and steering arm look good to me,so the spacers can stay in the packet.The car is on full droop ATM i might remove the coil spring to see the full travel just to be sure.I can't find any inner steering arms of the left hand variety and hints would be good. Hi jake i want to make some adjustable arms using the cranked end part then my own bits as well.By the way what is the best model subi to get a diff out of,i'm looking for 4.44:1 ratio or there abouts with a clutch pack centre Cheers David

Hi Jason What do i look for inside the box to tell it apart from others.What is the main differences between a 280zx and a 240k for instance,ie gear size ,synchro type I know first gear on the boxes i have on the floor are both is 3.321:1 cheers David

Hi Jason and all Thanks for the replies My current box in the car is a 280zx the 2 other boxes i have on the garage floor both have a first gear ratio of 3.321:I presume that ratio is only found in 280zx models.So Question 1 :Are these 280zx boxes i have in the floor Question 2: Is this first gear ratio found in other gearboxes ie 260z/260z 2+2 Question 3 :Could they be from another model ie 240K,200b,skyline,etc I want to rebuild the box myself so i need to know what kit to buy from SW Motorsport Buy the way Jason do you have any R180 lsd centres?

Hi All i had a look on the forum but can't find any info about how to identify z gearboxes.I picked up 2 boxes a couple of years ago from a wrecker i have checked the first gear ratio and both are 3.3,one had 260z in paint pen on it but i think that is incorrect.I need to replace the one i currently have in my z,and i want to rebuild on of these boxes ,i need to know what kit to order .Can anyone on Brisbane Northside have a look and suggest which kit i need. Hi All Electroplating stuff as far as i know.i went down the road to see a couple of blokes i know the other day to have a chat about car stuff and he told me the electroplater across the road had reopened.Google "Eastcoast electroplating" and all will be revealed Cheers David
