  1. G'day Adam, I'm sure(my fading memory permitting) you will find that the strap fasteners were bolted to the metal floor under the carpet and the straps then passed through a slit in the carpet to allow the carpet to be raised and give access to the spare wheel. Otherwise it would be a pita to get to the spare. Anyway, it's been many years since I sold my 240, but someone on here who currently owns one will be able to confirm this for you. Good luck, regards, Lloyd.
  2. Pull off the steering column shroud and physically touch/jiggle the soldered connections on the light switch. Have heard that the soldered connections come adrift with age. May look ok but you can't tell till you actually interfere with em. Worth a try if everything else you've mentioned checks out.
  3. In my first one I did about 50,000(miles) 73 240. Current 260 2 seater about 70,000ks, mostly interstate trips. Loved every m/km. In fact might be heading to Vic after Xmas...again! Never had any mechanical issues with either of 'em. By the way, Merry Xmas to all and best wishes for New Year too. "I'm in heaven when my Zed is revvin!".
  4. Welcome. Ex Townsville eh? I lived at Bushland Beach years ago. Left there in 97. (Too hot for me). Good luck with the search. If you monitor this site I'm sure you'll get hold of one. Prepare for a quick trip to Vic. Seems to be more Zeds in Vic than anywhere else.
  5. Thanks for the responses everyone. I'm happy to be onboard!
  6. G,day Fellow Zedders. I have been lurking on this site for quite a while now and I thought it was time I "outed" myself! A little background: I would guess that I am the oldest member here. A little clue: I purchased a brand new 73 model 240z when I was a young fella. Wish now that I had kept it, but as with many others, marriage and kids demanded more than 2 seats. Anyway, long story short, got the bug again about 10yrs ago. Was after a 240 but none available at that time. I spotted a 260 2 seater for sale and snapped it up. It is standard(I'm old school) except for extractors and round tops and mags. The thing hasn't missed a beat since I've owned it. Never had to put a spanner to it. It's my DD and that has included several trips to Melb and Sydney. It has a few rust spots in the doors and front guards. Will be rectifying that over summer. Must say I have been impressed with some of the technical expertise that has been posted on this site. Well, that's it from me for now. Will post pics when my daughter/son visit(told you, old school!). Regards, Lloyd.
