  1. Mate of mine we visited in goulburn over the weekend saved me some datsun ads from nat geos back in the day...
  2. Please be more patient with me than I am with others... I can understand power steering for a girl driving a V8 zed to the shops but doesn't the loss of feel and feedback negate the benefits? Even in a v8, lowered, wider tyres I can't imagine trading all information from the front end for lighter inputs. I have an old mustang with power steering that's way too light and gives no indication of what is happening at the road and the feedback through the steering in the zed is my favourite thing about it. OK, finally getting to the point... Am I wrong to think that these power steering kits will remove all feel?
  3. Time is running out and I'm still able to bear the thought of parting company so the price is down to $25,000.00 still negotiable. Have a storage option but they're getting impatient to know if it is required.
  4. Do it Lurch, do it! Ban him! We saw him dare you! You never know what it'll be next - probably some wanker with a wankel! Really pretty car, hope nobody buys it and you manage the house deposit some other way.
  5. from memory it is number 1316. What difference does it make?
  6. Really Scott??? That is a generous offer! If your work is as good as it looks in your build-up, then a steal. But what is happening to the Scotts in silver zeds? We may have to revise the count.
  7. Awesome raffle being run by HSRCA.org.au... I'm already going so if you win, we'll have to catch up there! The following is cut/paste from their email, with Brian & Wes happy for it to be passed on to anyone that might be interested. Ultimate goodwood getaway Everyone should be aware that the HSRCA has launched an exciting raffle as part of the fund raising activities to support the next Tasman Revival Meeting in November. The prize is the answer to most enthusiasts’ dreams and it covers a trip for two to the famous GOODWOOD REVIVAL RACE MEETING with Premium Economy return airfares, accommodation for 7 days (including breakfasts), car hire for the period and grandstand seating for the three days of the fabulous Goodwood event. The $10 tickets began selling at the Wakefield Park race meeting just held and the response was tremendous - it is clearly a very desirable prize. They will be available at future race meetings and are being distributed throughout a range of car clubs and other outlets. If you haven’t had the chance, or not yet been approached by another club member with a bunch of tickets, contact Brian Caldersmith at BrianTC@bigpond.com to ensure that you do not miss the opportunity. They are just a letterbox away. Brian Caldersmith - Tasman Committee
  8. Surely drag racing isn't as taxing as circuit racing! At least he isn't off-road rallying it.
  9. Good luck with finding a swap or sale of the GTR and aquiring an RBZ! Wonder if anyone ever but an L24 into a GTR?
  10. Thanks for the update Timwell, just checked the auction results too and was feeling a bit bummed after hearing that the car was in glorious, original, basically perfect low ks condition... Your estimate of it was rather different. It is annoying how often the word concourse is used when stuff is barely average. To clarify, my 240 is brilliant mechanically and the body was done to a very high quality but it is no trailer queen, used often and for long distances and therefore far from concourse condition.
  11. Must say that George's 350 convert is better. Not that I've ever seen it but the stories I've heard even from blokes that dislike zeds it is one car I'd love to see. I think it will become a thing of legend.
  12. I'm sure you guessed it was a yes - this was Zac's 'keeper'. Spoke to him today and he doesn't mind everyone knowing it was his #1. He might even take a look at it tomorrow. Wishful thinking but I could get sentimental about giving it back to him! STATUS OF THE SALE - few lookers, few low-ballers, no buyers, but no worries either! My buddy Peter tidied up a few of his old bikes and reckons he's got room for another car on the farm in Box Hill so that's the last of the four cars okay for storage. Still need the money, but not a big deal. Someone rang on the weekend to ask me to show it to them near work on lunch one day this week - haven't heard back from them but loving the good excuse to drive! Looking forward to seeing how the zed at Shannon's Melbourne sale goes too. Anyone checked it out lately?
  13. Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen, Just a quick update. Lots of interest but keep forgetting to ask where they've seen the car advertised. Put a window sticker in it but doubt anyone's seen that yet. I'll be sure to ask and therefore give credit to the forum if it is the source of some enquiries. With carsales.com.au at $50 it is only fair. I have been told that the retrim on the driver's seat looks bad... is that true? I was told that these are original seats and have passed that on but thought I should check with our infinite repositry of knowledge here. Thanks again, Scott PS - one enquiry was from Bowral - it was all I could do to not offer to bring it to him for a look - via jambaroo and kangaroo valley finishing with a blast up the sheepwash - "I'll be right there in four hours!". Suppose the glowing brakes, heat soaked cabin and an empty tank probably wouldn't help the sale though.
  14. I'd say Zac is certainly a "renowned Z restorer". However, I haven't spoken to him in a while and he doesn't know I'm selling this car... yet.

Price and Payment Conditions: $25,000.00 ono by the time I leave to move overseas first week in April Registration: JAN 2011 Engineers Certificate: N/A Extra Info: Check it out on carsales.com.auhttp://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/private/details.aspx?R=8405451&__sid=1272498EFD00&__Qpb=true&Cr=5&__Ns=pCar_RankSort_Int32%7c1%7c%7cpCar_PriceSort_Decimal%7c1%7c%7cpCar_Make_String%7c0%7c%7cpCar_Model_String%7c0&keywords=&__N=1216%201246%201247%201252%201282%204294966615%204294966408&seot=1&tsrc=allcarhome&__Nne=15&trecs=10&silo=1011 Contact Details: Scott 0401 616 313 Thanks for looking, Scott
  16. He's the source of my zed too. Still brilliant! Rust bubbles but who can predict them? Only minor, 1k repair when I can stand being without it.
  17. Hi, can't remember the brand (hope the rest of my memory on the subject is okay) but it was about $90 for a univeral remote aerial with the same round chrome base that was on the car originally. My auto electrican got it and fitted it in seconds. I think it came from jb hifi. Highly recommend doing it - much easier than reaching through either the hatch or passenger window if oversteering.
  18. I got to play f3 with the steering wheel thingy and thought it great but it was at my buddies' place and he's more into american muscle. I'm playing through forza2 on my old xbox for the third time. Maybe 330 for a 360 isn't too much to ask... where from?
  19. Just interested by the few comments made that it seems expensive... Has a similar car sold for less lately? I thought his suggestion that replacement cost would be more than double the asking price was fair enough and would make the asking price quite reasonable. Do I need to ask? What is your opinion? Good way to get into rallying?
  20. I'll see if he'll let me swing by to inpect...
  21. sorry I wasn't clearer. Too keen to drive it! This Patrick chap (azariar on ebay) did a full 280ZX conversion as a kit supplying coil, full distributer including shaft, cap, module etc. Even sent some instructions on setting it up. He gets some of the parts NOS from NISSAN and reconditions the rest. All I added was plugs and leads. Hope that clears it up, sorry for confusion.
  22. Gentlemen, as I've posted earlier today, the electronic ignition module supplied by Patrick (CONTACT VIA EBAY http://shop.ebay.com.au/azariar/m.html) for my stock 240Z has absolutely transformed the car - now it is in tune all through the rev range with real improvements in performance and has smoothed out the drive immensely! Patrick says he has parts available for a few more kits if you are interested. He'll quote you a price and lead time once you contact him but rest assured he was a couple of weeks quicker than he quoted me and stuck to his price even when I offered to pay more as it was most certainly too cheap. I think he may have adjusted the pricing now though. By the way, his clocks work perfectly too. Regards, Scott
  23. Hi, my stock L24 is brilliant! It goes as described in original reviews if not better. Didn't touch the carbs either - just balanced and adjusted. ELECTRONIC IGNITION from the guy in the states reconditioned (looks like new) 280ZX gear is THE BEST THING I've ever done to a car. The power comes on with heaps of tourque right from idle (now steady at 600 RPM) and pulls strong to 4k when there is a real surge that carries through to 6 which feels like max power but pulls to redline. I assume the stronger and more timed spark was all it really needed. Timed some 0-60mph times and got an average of 7.8 seconds... that is a second faster than Car & Driver's original review and miles better than prior to upgrade. HIGHLY recommend this to all!!!
  24. Count me in... what time?
  25. Thanks heaps sexy, That is much easier for everyone. I've got the original road test from car and driver too which I've been meaning to scan. Should get to it next week - I'll let everyone know when it is available. stevo.
