  1. As title, why are 240k 2 doors popular now? There is a few people on gumtree with wanted ads for them but no for sales. yes these are leading questions - I have a "rough" but fixable one and have no idea if I should keep it (ie keep it in the shed) or sell it now. I'm more of a z fan anyway - so I cant see myself restoring it. thought guys? --- its nice to comeback to these forums, I havnt been here much since selling my last 240z about 4 years ago ;(
  2. Thanks for the comments guys Jeez , i had no idea rechroming was so expensive thanks dave for that link- its great to see there is repo bumpers for these
  3. If i went the sr20 route would the standard u20 head and gearbox sell for much? Its a ramdom question but does rechroming cost much(bumpers etc)?
  4. Would it be seriously uncool to put a SR20 into a sr311? I like original old datsuns but depending on which parts are missing ie I think the solexs carbs are gone -a modern transplant probably would be less expensive. sigh- decisions
  5. hi, sorry to bring up a old topic but... Are sr311's worth the same now? Ive found a 1970 sr311(last year of production) that needs restoring. A few parts are missing including the block but it does have the u20 head which "should" go on a h20 block(urvan) to complete the engine. I'm unsure about buying this.. but have always liked the 2000's look. I know, I'll have a look in the other datsun forums mentioned. thoughts?
  6. He has done a fresh paint job on the 260z 2 seater - Ive only seen photos but it looks really good. He has removed the rb20det for the paint and has a rb25det in it now. Its still not finished but will be a hot car when done. Plus he still has various other zed projects on the go. BTW started a webpage for him - WWW.ZBITZ.COM.AU Its only a start(a lil rough) but features a sexy car - I think you will agree. Since having the r33 for over a year, I have come to like the rb25det - if/when I do another zed I will use one or a rb30/25/26det - anyone know whats the rules with that are ? But saying that, triple 45's with trumpets w/ big cam on a L done sound incredible.
  7. thats awesome! more -(longer) youtube vids please. if you havnt tried already, Styler automotive(bridge st - near the bridge) used to have lots of spare weber jets- I got a whole set off him for my old weber fed 240
  8. I saw the old girl driving past the other day.. Any progress? If you get sick of it you can always swap me,it for a r33.. (only joking - not really - kinda serious)
  9. looks sweet neuby
  10. some very cool stuff there!! To help tune those webers check out: http://forums.hybridz.org/index.php?/topic/28318-weber-jetsall-who-live-for-their-triples-please-read-this/ There is 18 pages of setups with jets/tubes etc- I started that topic way back in 2004 when I had my 45's on a prev 240z-- *sigh* I miss 240s
  11. I sold my 240z to get a r33- not that long ago on these forums.. Most folks told me not too, as the skyline would go down in value/are too common etc I really like my r33 - but in different ways to the 240z(or the 5 other s30's ive owned).. You really cant compare them - as they are two very very different things but both are seriously good cars. Try to sell the r33 on carsales/SAU(skyline forums) and buy the best 240z or 260z 2 seater you can.
  12. the ITB setup is really impressive..and using rb26 gear keeps it all in the family. The new rails look great - I know what your saying - too many originals/and std repo rails are too weak and crush on a jack. awesome work! utube vids are a good touch
  13. hey Neuby, Ill have a look - somewhere ,from long ago, I had some pics of L6 porting that rebello did. If I find it Ill email them to you, it give good ideas on what works on the l6. My brother ZBITZ has just bought a rb25det for one of his project s30's, so he probably has a couple of p90 heads if you wanted to go that way. Think he has a p90a head - the hydraulic lifters one - if you wanted to do something different. Hope the car is progressing nicely..
  14. ----Deposit taken---- The new owner seems like he'll look after her. I'm very sad to see it go.
  15. r33's are not that bad are they?
  16. oh god -dont compare the skyline with a commodore-- Ive done a little video, just a walk around the zed and quick rev if anyone wants it .(pm your email)
  17. My daily drive is a '71 240z. Matching numbers, manual. Few stone chips and 2-3 small parking dents. Original seats with original tears, A few small rust bubbles on pass door, and the rear guard lips have been cut unevenly(would take very little to fix) Mods inc: rota 17X8.5 wheels with 235/40 tyres only 4 months old- prob done 2000miles 2 1/2 exhaust new also about 4 months ago.(really good sound) 260z front struts (needed as the rota wheels hit the std 240 ones.) h4 headlights (with relays) skyline electronic dizzy with 280z import tach( standard one in box) 280zx 5 speed(so i was told) transitor voltage controller for the alternator(orginal in box) Ive owned it for about 4 years and prev owner had done a full engine rebuild just prior to the sale - no have no receipts but i do have pics of the rebuild. Since ive had it , its gets a oil change/filter change every 6 months and coolant/airfilter change every 12. Ive got some extra parts for people are interested.- these come with the car: 2 pairs of eibach coilover springs at appox 240 pounds and 1 pair at approx 280, As i was going to do a coilover conversion with sleeve kits from here: http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/product_info.php?cPath=1358&products_id=3450&osCsid=5s5a3j4gqj825frpi7n4tpoq82 So it would cost about $250au(with freight) ,total price, to get steel weld-on sleeve kits on each corner of this zed. the original 240z struts 15/16 master cylinder spare 180 diff a l28 with correct early zed sump- head in pieces but all there, with some porting. Only selling/swaping for a change(prob will regret later). And if i dont sell it ,Ill keep it for my everyday car. Want a r33 2.5 turbo coupe in any colour that not white or silver, or $10000 to go towards one. Here are some pics - i do more if requested.. in Toowoomba Qld thanks guys
  18. Nah - It didnt need anything high rated , mine has lasted 5 years now and if it died next week its only $5 and 30minutes to fix. I think this is the switch i used: http://www.dse.com.au/cgi-bin/dse.storefront/en/product/P7689 If I remember correctly I connected both poles with solder to help with the rating.
  19. Thanks,,, I thought they look pretty good.
  20. Hi, I thought i'd share how to fix the signal switch in 240z's. Ive done this mod on two 240's ,including my current car which have been working for about 5 years. Thr original switch often gets a bit dodgey - its over 35 years old. It is very difficult to clean as the switch has a crumby bakalite back that falls to pieces when you try to open or close it. The idea is to remove the switch then: Make a plate with three holes , 2 are the original screw holes and a large center hole that is centered on the plate between the screw holes. I used a two way toggle switch that was spung to return to center. I got it from dicksmith, but you could get them from jaycar. I think it was only $3-$4. Put this in the center hole of your new plate ,so it sticks into the workings of the indicator stick. Its a bit tricky getting the depth right, this is adjustable by the two nuts on the new switch - the goal is to get the signal stalk to work as original WITHOUT pushing the new switch past its limits and also to work the switch enough to trigger it.- Its trial and error but it doesnt take long to get it right. I cant remember the wiring but it was very straight forward using the original wires. Anyway I hope this picture will help.
  21. Its been a long time since I busted a handle on a zed... BUT just check if a 1600 one is the same, im nearly sure thats what I used ,as these are much easier to come by
  22. nice looking brackets, and not too expensive.. Anyone know if its the same?
  23. a couple of pics of the wheels on the car. Ill do some outside when Ive got time.
