I thought $270 was very cheap for four steel sleeves nuts , locks and caps. Hey Neuby, what are you doing for the strut tops?? Im still tring to suss these out. ZEDMAN240 - Thanks for that pic - thats a nice set of struts. Are you going to use mr2 inserts or something else?

I'm looking into bulk importing some coilover sleeve kits. They are 150mm long and have a 51mm ID. For use with 2 1/4 ID springs. Should be $270 for a set of 4 (1 per strut) or $150 for 2. Depending on numbers, the more ordered the cheap they are. The c spanner is seperate and would be $15. Im getting these for my 240z, and found sleeve kits in Australia a bit rich. .Quadrant Suspensions quoted me $650 for a set of 4 -noltec brand are cheaper, about $220-300 for 2.There are cheap ones on ebay but they are apparently crap. Here is a basic coilover how to: but uses cheaper sleeves Also Im fairly sure that these sleeves are steel and can be welded directly onto the strut http://www.geocities.com/bry593/coilover/coilover.htm So you still need to buy springs ,which can be found at any suspension shop, and coilover springs come in any rate you need. Ive bought 240 pound/ 10 inch long ones for my street car. And new strut tops- unless you mod the standard top like the guy in the link. Im still trying to source adjustable strut tops that arnt stupidly priced. I spoke to a guy at a local suspension shop - he uses noltec ones and MIG welds them on the struts.. but some say it needs to be TIG welded. Benefits of coilovers? Adjustable height , huge range of spring rates and lengths, more room for bigger wheels/ tyres(with correct offset). Please check if legal in your state, you may need a mod plate. Anyway let me know if anyone is interested it would be about 3 weeks to get them into Australia but id need numbers first. Will not fit 260z's as they use bigger struts

some went dirt cheap on ebay - some went to the dump.. all gone now

The lip is previously been trimmed.. there would be only 3-4 mm left SO.. I dont know it will be enough give with more trimming or rolling.

I got 17 X 8.5s. The mounting face has little platforms that has machine marks on it already. I was hoping the platform are just there to adjust offset in the factory and i could take some more off. Ive got 235/45's on there now and going to 225s may be enough to fix it.But Id really prefer to keep my bigger tyres. So what are my other options? I had these ideas: Coil overs with adj tops and give more negitive camber. adj A arms and move the whole wheel in.(and give pos camber) different rear hub-- is the 260z the same? Get a pro panelbeater to completely remove and reweld the lip.

ill post here, as not to create too many loose threads.. My rota's still rub on the back, when cornering hard or with bumps .. It rubs on the outside - on the guard lip. I have cut some of the lip away as I didnt want to roll them. Would it be ok to machine the inside of the wheel mounting face 5-10 mm to make the offset more inbound? 5-10 mm would be the limit as i will have wheel-to-coil issues with anymore. Is this safe? Or any other opinions - I dont want to use flares. thanks for your input

Engine power or braking force? Looks nasty either way. I had a set of "racing fear" wheels made by speedy that, when i went over a moderate pothole it shattered all the spokes on BOTH wheels on that side of the car. Looked like the top pic here but it was both on the passager side. I wasnt even going very fast. Alloy wheels can be very brittle - esp when using very low profile tyres that have little cushion.

I just got a new exhaust 3 days ago- replace my knackered 2 1/4 system with a 2 1/2. He cut it off at the extractors at the 2 1/2 point. The guy at the shop trialed it with a single "3 flow" at the back BUT he said it sounded crap. So he put on a offset straight thru at the back and hot dog in the middle. It sounds very good now - at least with my stockish l24 thats a everyday car. Its amazing how wonderful our old L6's sound revving out thru gears.
