  1. I am organising some Z car therapy for Susie. Her story is provided below. I will be meeting her and her husband on Sunday 30 March at 1:30 to give her a ride in a 260Z again. I would encourage any other Z car owners to show up and show your cars to her if you are available. It would be great to have a short procession in her honour. The address is 46 Hunter Street, Greenslopes. If you can make it please let me know (pm or on the forum). Perhaps afterwards we can get together for a coffee and discussion somewhere. If there is interest I will find some place close by. "Susie (ex 260Z owner) had a brain haemorrhage on the 25/5/1996 (18 years this year). She was 35 years old. It was as result of a congenital defect - one of the main arteries in her brain had a weakness that was never detected. The bleed was one of the biggest the Neurosurgeon had ever seen. It left her a spastic quadriplegic without speech yet fully cognitive. Simply put Susie is trapped in a body that doesn't work. If you tell her a funny story she will laugh, tell her a sad story and she will cry. Susie was on a Neurodevelopmental program for approx 6 years and whilst there were many improvements her level of care remains 24hrs a day 7 days a week. Susie sold her 260Z when we bought our house, it was the deposit. The medical profession recommended she go into a care institution and the children and i get on with our lives. I rejected their offer and bought Susie home to look after her. I asked her 10 questions re our children, our life, family allena cetc. (including her bank account pin number) Susie got them all right and i knew then she was fully cognitive (we used an alphabet board and she blinked out sentences). There was never doubt in my mind that the lights were on and there was someone home. Susie loved her 260Z and enjoyed driving it immensely (me too!!) I am sure she will be thrilled to revisit 260Z period in her life. Thank you for anything you can do to enrich her life. - Steve" I hope to see some of you there. Alan
  2. Peter How are your new rad and fans working? Is there much difference compared to the old system? I blew a rad hose going into the city the other day so now I am going through and replacing all hoses etc. I have an aluminium rad so was going to put it in also and am considering the electric fans. Was the wiring much of a job and where did you get the setup and fans? Will the stock alternator provide enough juice for fans and battery? Nice looking job. Will have to organise our after Xmas run once car is back on the road so I can see your mods. Always an inspiration. Cheers Alan
  3. Thanks but just need the lower inlet one. I have the upper thermostat housing. Cheers
  4. Trying to find a water inlet housing for the L26 and it doesn't show up in some parts books? Looks like a WIN30 housing but would like to confirm. Also, looking for a recommendation on best place to source one. Tried Supercheap and Repco and no listing. Autobarn found the WIN30 but couldn't confirm it was the correct one and they wanted $85 to order it in. Found on US eBay sites for $15 - 25. Thanks.
  5. I apologise but I have to travel overseas for work on sunday 8th so cannot host the BBQ for the cruise that day . This has just come up with little warning. Options are either somebody else hosts the BBQ or we can postpone until January. I am available any weekend in Jan for the cruise and host the BBQ. Let me know your preferences. I am in cold Mongolia desert now proudly wearing a Z car beanie and wishing I was back in the warmth of Brisi. Communications not so good but will get back on the net in the next day or 2. cheers Alan
  6. Got a HAPP90 hoist from Brisi supplier and installed myself. Very happy with it. Easy to use and good for sheds with reduced clearance. Get 1.5m lift with the Z. Can adjust width to suit application and easy to move. Did not use bolts supplied but got high strength Ramsets after discussion and help from this forum. Www.happ.com.au Good luck Alan
  7. Confirming 8/12/13 is the date as agreed earlier in the thread. We will meet at the new Ferny Grove tavern parking lot (Ferny Grove train station) say 8am for an 8:30 departure. There is a petrol station just before the tavern for people wanting to fuel up. Cruise will head out Samford Rd then on to Mt. Glorious, Wyvenhoe, Kilcoy, Mt. Mee and back to Samford Valley for the lunch time BBQ. Some stops along the way for photos, talk, stretch etc. Distance approx 190k. Will send a detailed map, directions, phone no and final location for BBQ to those confirming to attend. Let me know how this sounds. Cheers Alan
  8. Aub - How is the attached route for the Xmas cruise? 185km Cheers Alan 37895_5633dd0a54f70a4d3c4abe0ea1bb77ecfab5b541.pdf
  9. I am in for this. Also, willing to host the BBQ. Lots of room for cars on property and big covered patio for the BBQ. Good endpoint for a drive around Mt. Glorious, Mt. Mee etc. Cheers Alan
  10. Peter Measured my distance between towers and very similar to yours. Definitely not 10mm difference. Bar must be made too long. Tried to put pics in message to you but couldn't get it to work. Will need to email. Off to Mongolia early tomorrow so will be out of touch for a couple of weeks. Cheers Alan
  11. Peter; You mentioned during our recent drive to Toowoomba that you had to jack the strut towers apart to fit the braces. How far did you have to move them for the rear brace? Looks like I need to move them 10mm after i have removed the lock nuts and screwed the ends in completly. I have attached some photos. Will try putting the car up on the hoist to see if that helps to pull the strut towers apart. May not be able to do this for a couple of weeks though as will be out of the country. My car is a 74 2+2. Would the distance between rear strut towers have changed in later yrs? Thanks for your help. Alan
  12. I agree also. Very good run, good company and good snags. Thanks for organising it Peter. Now out of the country for the next 5 weeks so the car will gather dust again. Cheers Alan
  13. Sent email and pm last night. Not sure what is happening with the messages. What do you want for the gbox? Thanks Alan
  14. Interested in the gearbox. PM sent.
  15. Count me in but I have to pull the finger out and get the z back on the road. Maybe the wheels will fall off on the way. Alan
  16. Interesting photo of an early Z and mine haul truck. Part of a presentation on mine truck brakes. Cheers Alan
  17. What is the difference between front and rear springs? My rear springs are out at the moment as I rebuild brakes, axels, rear suspension so you can borrow them for a short inspection. From a 74 2+2. Cheers Alan

    Floods!!!!!!

All good here. Got to spend some time in the shed working on the old girl.
  19. Sounds good to me - count us in. Lots of time to get the Z back on the road. Rebuilding the rear bushings, brakes and bearings. Lots of skin lost so far trying to get bits apart.
  20. I like the hoist. Makes work much easier and is very solid. Seems more solid than the Maxjax seen on youtube. Does not lower very smoothly and car starts to rock. I stop lowering until movement stops then lower slowly. May still have some air in the hydraulic system? Any other ideas? Hydraulic hoses are plenty long enough at 5m. Unit comes with 2 sets of 4 spacers - 50mm and 100mm. Pads also have 2 stage adjustment threads for another 100mm. Unit was missing the limit switch but it arrived within a couple of days of informing company. They were very helpful. I don't like the limit switch as cable gets in the way so didn't use it in the end. Just short out the limit switch connection and carefully watch how high I raise car. I have limited height in the shed so if I raise hoist fully car will hit roof!! Natural limit switch.
  21. Finally installed - HAPP90. Used Ramset Spa Tec Plus bolts to anchor the posts and they seem to hold so far. 6 x M16 - 145 per side. Much stronger than the bolts shipped with the hoist. Pictures show hoist with car on it for the first time and the lift points I used.
  22. I should have my 2+2 on my new hoist this weekend so easy to get under for measurements. Located Brisi NW.
  23. Excellent run and a great day. Photos also tops . Hope the next one comes sooner rather than later. Thanks to the organisers and paparazzi. Al & Merc
  24. I'll be there. Not sure about the boss though. No air con and it is going to be hot!!
  25. Thank you all for your suggestions. Will not use a cheap or weak fixing system. Would like to be able to move the posts out of the way when the hoist is not needed and not have bolts sticking out but also like the idea of the strength of the chemset bolts. More things to think about!
