  1. If it's any help, I run Koni yellows (part number 8641-1060) in the rear of my 240z (51mm struts). They do have a spacer at the bottom, approx 40mm to make the difference. I also added a sleeve at the bottom of the shock to ensure they fit snug in the tube. The top fits snug in the existing retaining nut.
  2. Sorry guys, but won't be attending...I'll be drinking beer with my mates watching the Clipsal. Weak excuse I know but it a hard life at the top. Have a great day and take some pics...we should have another catch up at the yacht club, where we can exchange pics from thredbo, etc??
  3. Hi Guys, Now that I've been informed of the correct date....thanks Chris (but I probably have myself to blame, should have kept an eye on the forum), I may attend. By this is only a maybe, depending on what commitments I have on this weekend. I'll let you know, what pans out.
  4. Any choices on colours for the spring perch, etc? And do you have any recommendation on spring rates if you intended to use the car from some track work?
  5. Jindabyne definately will have fuel...all those ski bunnies in their BMW's need something to get up the hill? Think there is a small servo at Khancoban but don't quote me on that and I'd be doubtful what fuel they have...best to fill up before heading up the Alpine way. I presume Craig this is still the plan for the Vic guys? Scott, Mikka said he was a goer to travel down to Khancoban. Are you still interested in a lift down that way or will you go directly to Thredbo? Car tuned and ready to go!
  6. Have changed the booking from a twin room to a quad, as Scott No.2 is a defiant. Tally up another for the ACT branch! By the sounds of it there are other rooms still available at the Thredbo Alpine Hotel if anyone else wishes to join at the last minute.

    Thredbo trip

Scott, My leave has been approved, so I have the day off next Friday. So I’m very keen to go to Khancoban to catch up with the Vic guys….unless the fires beat us too it (fingers crossed this disaster will be over soon). And after a days drive, that beer at Thredbo will look the so much better!
  9. Thanks for the advice. I'll have to pull the head off to see what the issue really is but I'm confident it should be fine for the Thredbo trip. Then the hard work can really begin!
  10. Thanks Chris for picking up the typo...got a better answer?
  11. Not sure what valves are in there, came as purchased and I haven't had the head off to check...not yet anyway. I'm more concerned that the valve may have stretched or something similar and I could have a serious problem on my hand!! Is this at all likely?
  12. Hi Guys, looking for some advice on a valve clearance issue I have with my L28 engine (F54 block with a P90 head). While checking the valve clearances, number 6 cylinder exhaust valve was very tight and I only just get clearance with the adjuster screwed down as tight as it will go. Now my concern is, why is it just this valve when all the others have plenty of adjustment left? I did the following checks; Removed the rocker and checked for any visible problems. No dramatic wear issues and valve collets looks to be seated correctly. Measured valve spring between valve spring seat and valve washer at bottom. 6th cylinder exhaust measured 44.48mm and 3rd cylinder exhaust measured 43.50mm as a comparison, so valve on 6th cylinder certainly is higher therefore why my adjuster is screwed right down. Measured the compression ratio, 155psi average across cylinders. So I’m not down on compression on the 6th cylinder. All I can think of now is: Valve seat is receding or was cut deeper (but I don’t seem to have a compression issue to indicate the valve seat is worn. Valve stem has stretch. Has anyone got any other thoughts what the issue could be and if I’m running any serious risk running the motor in this condition? Thanks for your help in advance. :-\
  13. Sounds good to me. See ya at 5.

    Thredbo trip

Ok Scott, I've booked the last twin room for the Friday 20th and Saturday 21st Feb (I need to be back Sunday night). Chatted to Chris and Miika and they seem happy with the arrangement to swap, i.e. Chris will only stay the two nights and bunk in with me (if he changes his mind he can find some floor space).

    Thredbo trip

Scott. I would also like to come, are there any spaces left?
  16. See ya there Mika....I'll bring a tarp!
  17. Well Scott, the weather looks a bit poor...may clear up through the day (according to the weather reports). Let me know if you are turning up (understand your dilema) and let me know who I need to see to get the entry stickers. I'll turn up, but depending how crap the weather gets, will depend how long I stay.
  18. Fawkie, Glenn Luthy has a ton of Z parts still (to my knowledge anyway). Give me your email address and I forward on his contact details. I may also have a spare bar thinking about it last night...so I'll have a rumage around and let you know.
  19. Excellent work Scott! See ya at Acton Park Sunday morning.
  20. Scott, Last time I went, just follow the cruise and you will find the entrance to the park...is off Ginniderra College car park, off Aikman drive (Arscott house according to the map). Let us know where our location will be....Chris will need some tree's to hang the banner, or we well need a few poles (can supply). Bring your chairs and sunblock...Macca's, Hunger Jack, etc are all in short walking distance.
  21. Cool...count me in. Thanks for making all the arrangements Scott. Simon
  22. See ya there. 0428 785011
  23. More on the ethanol debate…… Here is quote for CAR magazine April 2008, article…’GM to make brass from muck’. If the science described in this article is sound and robust, it puts a lot of holes in the current unviable ethanol debate! “Making ethanol requires specific crops, which pushes up the price of food – there isn’t enough land to grow all the crops we need. Coskata has patented strains of bacteria that can make ethanol by fermenting slurry made from domestic waste, and even old tyres. Unlike similar cellulosic ethanol, Coskata’s bacteria don’t need to be tailored to the stuff they’re fermenting and they’re hugely efficient. Making petrol produces one unit of energy for every one it consumes; regular ethanol about 1.4; but Coskata’s process produces 7.7, and use less than a gallon of water to make a gallon of ethanol – other processes need four. Well-to-wheel CO2 emissions are down 84 percent compared with petrol. All for a buck a gallon.”
  24. Sweet! Thanks for doing the experiment. Fumes have driven me nuts also and I have also tried extra sealing around the hatch with no success. I'll try fabricating a weather strip to seal the gap and let you know the results.
  25. Here’s a prediction that oil prices will come down (from http://www.dailyreckoning.com.au/crude-oil-price-2/2008/05/30/) “You can also anticipate that the bubble will eventually correct, but that is unlikely to happen before the recession actually reduces the demand. The rise in the price of oil and food is going to weigh and aggravate the recession.” I think this is what they call irony? When you are out of a job, petrol will get cheaper! Strange lot economists.
