PRECISION SHIMS AUSTRALIA - L SERIES CYLINDER HEAD LASH PADS
scrumpy replied to scrumpy's topic in Business Directory + Links
Sorry I amended it. Lash pads in Datto speak; not cam tower spacers; but I would like to know who makes them. -
Lurch gets the last word. LOL.

I have just ordered a "BRE" style font spoiler and rear BRE style small hatch spoiler in black gel coat. They have a mould from an original of each. A much better deal than importing from the USA. Co owner Fraser is excellent to deal with. One of the better sellers I have dealt with when it comes to Z's. Another advantage of the Alfa rear hatch spoiler is it can be bolted on or stuck on with "sikaflex" to avoid any additional rust to the Z's body.

A lot of Japanese speak the world's business language which despite a US induced blowout is still english.

260Z I'm copying your setup. Sent you a PM that I bought twin 10" thermo fans off Ebay. Can you be more specific about the part number of the switch/adaptor you bought from Bursons and other parts/wiring you used to complete my installation.

Well here's a hard to get tip for anyone setting up a new cam or reco engine. Chris BULLEN is the owner of Precision Shims Australia. They are at 4 Fay Court in Croydon Vic. Contact: 97230199 or 0438 230 199. Chris manufactures lash pads for L series head from 130 thou to 300 thou in 10 thou increments. They are $7.70 per lash pad Chris is the manufacturing source of most Australian lash pads/shims and sells them on to other businesses so save some dollars when you rebuild and give him a call. Go to the source Luke.

I have just bought twin 10" thermo fans for my L28 powered 260Z. I don't like the idea of a Davies Craig type stick on temp sensor on the radiator fins or the poke into the radiator probe. Anyone know if there is a screw in temperature sensor to fit the radiator inlet to the cylinder head. It may screw into the carb heating tube hole that I have blocked off. Any ideas welcomed. I see Davies Craig sell a spacer kit with sensor to fit into the radiator hose; but I am looking for a neater way using the existing water plug holes in the engine. Maybe 280ZX had thermo fans?

How much do you want for the whole dash? PM me or post an ebay link.

Does any Zedphile know the name and telephone number of a specialty Z parts store in Japan who speaks english. The reason I ask is there are inumerable NOS S30 240-260Z parts panels trim still avaiable in Japan. My problem is I don't speak Japanese. Someone out there must have a contact. If you don't want it public then please MP me. I am not a business and don't want to on sell to anyone. Thanks Matt

I contacted David Azzopardi of StreetLens up in Sydney. The quality of his lenses appear to be quite good. Off interest David sends his 240Z rear lenses to the USA where they are sold through a number of Z specialists. I was after some 260Z 2 bulb front lenses and a NOS pair of 260Z tail lenses which I have finally located and bought from the good old US of A. I kept a close eye on the Japanese Yahoo site for this stuff through Import Monster (Great Site) but the prices paid for items was out of this world.

Yep good guys. Just bought a 240Z rear hatch glass from them for just over $200 in magnificent condition. Boxed brilliantly for its journey to Melbourne. Well worth a call is your after parts.

Don'tforget sourcing through ebay USA. There are some good deals and NOS Nissan rubbers are still available. Mototrsportauto (MSA) is also a good source. Precision Rubber make all the US repro rubber seals. From experience though; nothing fits and leaves me happier than a nice supple perfect fitting factory item. It might cost you 20-30 dollars more on Ebay; but it won't leave you cursing at the end result.

If you live in South Australia "Complete Windscreens" polish scratches out. Glass polishers and jewellers all remove scratches with what's called jewellers rouge. The critical component is called "cerium oxide" Cerium oxide is a fine powder that you mix with water to form a paste and work the glass with soft cloth; leather or sheepskin pad on a drill to remove fine scratches. There are other powders and abrasives to remove deep scratches. It's a time consuming process. You usually polish a large area to avoid any distortion of the glass in one small area. Cerium oxide is available from "Aussie Sapphire" in Ballina NSW for about $12 a small bag. Their contact number is: 1800 502 140.

Some things are a hard slog. I too searched across Oz for an original RH mirror to no avail. A couple of fellows have NOS RH spares but want to keep them for the next millenium. So I tried Japan and the UK no luck. So this is the answer. Nissan USA has just done a rerun of original 240Z LH mirrors. They are about $85USD. The angle is slightlty different to a RH mirror but only slightly. I bought one through Courtest Nissan in the USA 2 months ago. It works perfectly and for originality you only fit a driver door mirror anyway so you don't notice the slight difference in angle. Simple answer really. Maybe others out there have done the exact same thing. Now you know.

240Z - 260Z Front Signal/Park Lamp Assemblies
scrumpy replied to scrumpy's topic in General Discussions
Thanks Zedman. Are the dimensions of either 240 or 260 lens and assembly the same and interchangeable? -
Aegean. I have a 260Z coupe. Can't read it to save myself. If you have progressed or can get them done count me in for 50 or 60 dollars or whatever for a true repro. My plate is not much good to use as a template. Can you help out?

240Z - 260Z Front Signal/Park Lamp Assemblies
scrumpy replied to scrumpy's topic in General Discussions
Do 240Z assemblies have a single globe or 2 globes. US cars have 1 globe. -
Can anyone out there tell me the difference between the front turn signal assemblies on 240Z and 260Z Will a 240Z turn assembly and amber lens fit into a 260Z Is the 240Z signal assembly smaller? Are the amber and clear lens intercahangeable I think the 240Z has 1 globe that is a turn signal only with amber lens. My 260Z has a 2 globe setup with a clear lens. One for a park lamp and the other a turn signal. I can get a new US sourced 240Z turn signal assembly. I then want to fit an Australian clear lens to it with an amber globe. Are the lenses interchangeable? Ar the dimensions the same?

To improve breathing will 44mm inlet and 38 mm exhaust valves fit easily into my E88 head? I know an N42 has 44mm inlets so is it a big deal to fit 38mm exhaust valves with new seats of course? Standard exhaust valves are 35mm

Hi. I've bought a pertronix Ignitor to fit to my 260Z points distributor. I don't know which flamethrower 40000 volt coil to buy. A 1.5 ohm or a 3 ohm. The original coil has a primary resistance of 1.6-1.7 ohm. The ballast resistor has a resistance of 1.6 ohm. Total about 3 ohm total If I keep the ballast resistor then I think I buy a 1.5 ohm. Can I remove the ballast resistor and run a 3 ohm coil? Thing is someone says I need a ballast resistor or I may blow up my tacho?? The pertronix site says I can use either coil; a 3 ohm for street use or a 1.5 ohm for racing. Buggered if I know. Any sparkies out there who can point me in the right direction? It would be a cleaner conversion without the ballast resistor.
-
What would be the result? Too high compression? Seems to have smaller inlet holes and valves in the E30. I can get flat top or dished pistons. The head is like new as opposed to my N42 which needs work. Triple webers go on this engine.
-
Anyone out there used Cannon intake with triple webers on an N42 head? I'm worried that the fuel injections notches in the head only leave 3-5mm seal for the inake to the head. Is this a problem? Also; if there is a little corrosion on the head water holes that have to be TIG welded to build them up; will this compromise longevity/function of the head. The head guy said its normal to apply a bit of weld to 30+ year old alloy heads and it will be fine. Any information out there?
