  3. Amazing job Dave, car looks awesome. John
  4. The Zeds looking great Scott. regards John
  5. Have a look at the Yokohama Advan Neova AD08R, I had them on my 240Z and was amazed at the level of grip, feel and response in the dry and wet. I never got around to tracking them but I've only heard and read good reviews, I think the widest profile for a 15" rim is 205/50. What sort of budget do you have? I think they're priced pretty well too. John
  6. Hey Classicman, Thanks for clarifying, your 100% correct with the size of some chequebooks with the 3 cars for resto of the year, and many other cars. You should be very proud the 240Z was there, well done. John
  7. Went to Motorclassica yesterday afternoon, hadn't been for a few years, some great cars and bikes on display and to have a 240Z amongst the marques was great to see, certainly was getting a fair share of attention. Great job on the resto Classicman on both the Z and the Alpina, sorry I didnt talk to you, a bit hard when you dont know the person and who to ask or check who owns what. Interesting on the write up on the display its was written as a 1974 240Z, amongst other differences, I noticed front guards lenses/indicators, rear glass dimister, the rear bumper bar had the illumination section for the reg plate, were these differences for the Sth Africa market? I can say my vote went to the Z offcourse. The split window silver Vette next to the Z was a very nice resto, attention to detail was crazy, I also had a wonder around the outside section, weather was pretty crap for most of the day, rain, sun for a minute, rain again, again didnt chat to any of te skyline people, sorry didnt mean to be rude. All in all a great few hours and am certainly missing the Z, especially after a show like this. regards John
  8. Thanks GongZ, beat me to it. John
  9. Has anyone seen or bought the Survivor Car Australia magazine? if anyone has a genuine 240Z survivor car and may me interested in featuring their Z in the Survivor Car Australia mag let me know. I been asked by a good friend of mine who is involved with the mag to do a feature on the 240Z, but it needs to be a genuine survivor car. Thanks John
  10. You may want to try Famous Insurance if not too late, I've got my Volksy R36 wagon with them, they were $500 cheaper than most of the main players, when I had my 240Z I had it with Shannons, agreed value $40,000, was paying $540, Famous quoted me $280 from memory for the same cover. Famous also offer track cover for those who track there Z, separate policy, I had asked them for $10,000 track cover and it was around $500, my 2c worth. John
  11. Hi Lurch, Congrats again to Scott, I trust he'll enjoy the Z as is right now and for many years to come adding his own touches. Yes I'm quite sad about it, missing her badly, but honestly I've driven her 2 times this year, life at the moment is way too busy and I'm sure many fellow Z owners are possibly in the same boat. It all happened pretty quickly I guess and I don't think I was really ready to let her go. I know it's gone to a good home and I still plan to be on the forum following Scott with the Z and all the other members Z's, there's some awesome builds going on. As for future projects or plans, not sure yet, when things settle down a little with life, definitely keen for another 240Z but possibly more track focused, I'll be keeping a look out always for something. John
  12. Hi Retro Z, I'll chime in with my 2c worth. Mines with Shannon's also, no problem's, easy to deal with, try asking them if premium will be less if limited use(you may have already told them this). Not sure if you or anyone else has heard of Famous insurance, traditionally a bike insurer, I got an email from CAMS advertising them so I called them and found they were half the premium of Shannon's with pretty much same coverage, I'll be swapping shortly as I have my Passat R36 with Famous, you may want to check them out. For those who track their Z they offer track cover, separate policy but well worth it if you track the Z and want some peace of mind. John
  13. Thanks for the recommendations dat2kman and gav240z. I purchased a sealed 12v 650 CCA with RC107 from a little local battery supplier/manufacturer in Clifton Hill. They've been around for nearly 70 years, very knowledgeable, old school guy's, they also do the rubber type batteries for vintage vehicles if any one is interested or looking. I'll hook the battery up tonight and take the Z out for a spin, cant believe i last drove it over the Xmas break. regards John
  14. Hi All, can any one recommend new battery 12v, mine has just died, lack of driving the Z and battery terminals still connected to battery, battery is 8 years old, its was 600 CCA, RC110. I tried charging it for around 15 hrs and nothing. Are there newer technology types? thank you all in advance. John
