  1. I thought my brother would be able to install the brakes at home but we were missing a few tools so he has to take it to his friends shop. He has the keys to the shop. Braided brake lines have been ordered and will be here shortly.
  2. It was in okay condition and painted black. I sold it for $70 and he's picking it up tomorrow.
  3. Welcome to the forum. I'm fairly new here as well and I'm really new to the Z cars.
  4. I just spent around $550-600 Canadian on getting new brake parts...hopefully it was worth it. I think they will be installed tomorrow.
  5. A few bigger pictures
  6. I posted it on CraigsList and asked for people to make me an offer. I got one e-mail and he didn't want to make an offer so I asked for $75 and he agreed to pay $70. My brother wanted me to ask for more but I just wanted to get rid of it. Oh well. It's done now. I don't think mine could bring in $300.
  7. Nobody knows how much a rear bumper should go for? :'( I'll probably get rid of it for about $50'ish Canadian??
  8. Hey, I'm going to be selling my 260Z rear bumper locally (Canada) but don't know how much I should sell for. When I bought my 260Z last week, the bumper was already removed and the previous owner gave it to me. It's painted black so I'm assuming there's hidden "things" under that paint. It looks like it is in "okay" condition but will need some work. Any suggestions would be great and sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum.
  9. Thanks. For a temporary setup, I'm going to get performance slotted rotors and performance brake pads for the front and performance brake pads for the rear as well. I'll also get braided brake lines and better brake fluid. I gotta make a few phone calls this week to confirm that these parts are available or fit the 260Z. Hopefully this will be good setup for a little while and once the SR20DET goes in, then we'll re-visit the brakes again and look at our options.
  10. Hi guys, Hope I'm posting this in the right section. I've been reading the brake section of the forum and there is lots of great suggestions here. I just wanted some member feedback on what decision I should make. I just purchased a 260Z with a 280Z motor. I will be getting rid of that motor in about 4 months when we drop a SR20DET in it. The current brakes on my 260Z are pretty much gone and needs replacement badly. Is it a good idea to just go ahead and replace the rotors and brake pads OR would it be more wise to go ahead and do a conversion to Disc brakes all around? :-\ Cheers
  11. No, it's not a North American thing. I've only seen a few with matching colors and I personally liked the way it looked on it. Although I can also see how it's nice to have a little bit of contrast. Here is an example.
  12. I'd call that "Black Cherry". Our old family car was a 1998 Altima and the color looked Very similar to that.
  13. Thanks for posting that. I wish I could find an old building with a mix of Datsun 510's and the Z's!
  14. wow, nice stuff. How much $ do those go for?
  15. Looks good. You didn't want to paint the back with matching colors? Still looks good.
  16. I would have to check the gauges and see which company made them. I had my friend charge the battery for me. When I got home, he told me that the battery is messed up. When he was charging it, it read 6 ohms and then 10 minutes later it went to 2 ohms and then fell off to zero. We put it in the car and tested it anyway. Turn the key all the way ....... fuel switch on ..... push the start button .... and what we had was the car attempting to start. So we were on the right track compared to last night. We tried again and it did start up but it turned off. So the problem all along was the battery. I'll pick up a new one and see how that goes. I was told by someone that if the Voltage regulator is not working properly, the battery can get fried. How do I check to make sure the Voltage regulator is working properly?
  17. Thanks, I checked it out and joined. ps... how many hours are you guys ahead of me? I'm from Western Canada
  18. Thanks for the welcome guys. By the time I get home tonight, the battery will be charged and we'll see what the problem is. I'll keep you guys updated. Here are a few pics taken by the previous owner, I'll take some pictures when I can get it running and we'll take it to a park or something. ENJOY
  19. Hey everybody, Just thought I would go ahead and register here as well. I just picked up a 1974 Datsun 260Z with a 280Z motor. My brothers and I really like Datsun & Nissans. My brother has a 1970 Datsun 510 thats going to have a Cosworth engine in it. I picked up the car with the following Mods: Exterior - Front Air Dam - Aerodynamic Headlight Covers - New Weather Stripping - Molded Ureflex Rear Spoiler - Performance Springs Interior - Recaro Seats - Momo Steering Wheel - White Faced AutoMeter in Dash Guages - Engine Push Start Button - Electric Fuel Pump Switch Engine and Drivetrain - 280z Non Turbo Motor - P30 Heads - Performance Cam, Pistons and Rods - MSD Spark Plug Wires and Distributor - Mukuni Triple Carbs - Monza Header with Downpipe ( Magnaflow Exhaust not installed yet) - Aluminum Flywheel and Performance Clutch - Performance Front Sway Bar After we picked it up and drove it around. We took it to the car wash and after the wash was completed, it wouldn't turn on although the lights were working. When we pushed the start button, we would get a clicking sound but the engine wouldn't come on. After a few attempts, it started to work just fine. But later that night, it wouldn't run again!! Hahaha This time the lights won't turn on, and there was also no clicking sound. I'm thinking it's the Battery. It's in the process of being charged but we'll see. It could also be a starter problem. We'll see though. The car overall is in good condition. There is no rust and even though I have only owned it for a 2 days, lots of people in parking lots and streets have stopped to check it out and complimented. The car is white and the original paint (not so shiny after 33 years). It does need a new paint job but first I gotta figure out this starting problem. I gotta go for now. Time to read all these threads now.
