4.11 open? what car did a 4.11 open R200 long nose come out of?

so is it reasonable to assume that 4.11 is optimal, followed close second by 3.9? car will be mostly used on the road, doubt it will see the track often...

Guys, I am considering a R200 lsd for my 260z with the goal of long term putting a RB25 NEo0 and RB25 box in the beast. Right now i am driving it as is with the L26 and will be for the next year or so. I was thinking of doing the LSD now though (i mean it has to happen sooner or later). For a mild RB25, i.e. 160-200 kw atw, what ratio would better suit the car ~ 3.9 or 4.11? I am aware that the R34 skyline comes with a 4.11 but have noticed many prefer to run the 3.9. Any comments appreciated, Peter.

Buyer was using for another datsun (not a Z). The late zx m/c IS identical to the patrol i mentioned. Lines enter from the side. The early zx m/c has lines entering directly underneath which IS a direct bolt in for 260z.

thanks for the advice. I really went with the R32 GTS gearing being on the money given that nissan usually get it pretty right. But sounds like a 4.1 or 3.9 would be better. Regardless, 3.54 will not cut it as far as i am concerned. I have a 2 seater 260z not a 2+2 but i would not imagine this would make much difference.

I like old school turbo motors and smaller capacity motors. The RB20 turbo motor revs more freely - like i said earlier to 7400 stock. I prefer this to the more modern RB25 which is out of puff at lower rpm and comparatively smoothed power curve. Low down torque is not something i am really interested in. Top end power rush is more fun and the RB20 will still run put out more power than you need without much work. And torque kills an RB20 gearbox at 200kw atw, and if you went RB25 this number (and some) is where you would want to be to. Then you have to worry about the bigger RB25 gearbox and more modding/cutting. I really don't want to cut up a classic even if it is under the transmission tunnel.

I have a pair of 4runner 4 spot calipers (s12+ which are a direct bolt on for your 240z or 260z. They are off an early 4runner with solid discs thus they are the ones that bolt straight onto your 240z/260z discs with no modifications. There are many writeups on the web on how to install, but they are sumitomo and go straight onto the 240z and 260z factory caliper mounts and they fit under majority of 14 inch wheels.This gives good stopping for street. I can provide pics. I have decided to go in a different direction with brakes (a more expensive vented setup) thus these are up for grabs. I am chasing what i paid for them: $120 plus postage. RB20. R32 GTS does not weight much more that a RB 260z. It runs a 4.4. Remember the RB20 revs to 7400 stock and is laggy, lacks torque. It needs the gearing to get up and going. I will be running RB20 g/bix. RB25/30 are a different story, much more torque, less revs. If you think i have been ill-informed then please tell me now!

i have a r200 longnose open 3.54 ratio - Just pulled out of my 260z auto. Good condition, no noise. Have never had a probelm have always run it with slick 50. $150. Selling because doing RB motor so higher ratio needed. pair of Rear Discs and calipers with pads (pads look pretty worn) off 280zx $100. Discs would probably need machining/sanding.
