Ok Sydney-siders, lets get organised. Weds 20/8. I'm only working half day but I know alot of you guys won't be free till later. Suggestions for a meeting place.. somewhere easily found, with parking with food, caffeine and alcohol (for passengers of course) nearby eg a maccas etc. Whos up for it?

Nah, we can leave that for another night. We should just keep it to the guys from here. Weds are perfect for me as I only work half day so I am in for a meet up on Weds

congrats & welcome doudous, thats a fine Z you have there. Love that colour too, probably my second favourite after silver . With the mods, i reckon just don't do anything thats irreversible (don't cut anything up). Period mods like triple carbs, exhaust, suspension, mags steering wheel etc. Can't wait to see the car in the flesh, we should be organizing the inaugural Sydney get-together soon. -

Hi Andrew, you say you have a lot of spares lying around-why not try to make the car look complete as possible, clean it up a little bit to be more presentable as everyone else is saying. You sound like you're not that much of a rush to sell it so put it up on carsales.com, name your price and let market forces do the rest. If you don't like the offers, keep it and finish the job. I'm hoping you finish it anyway, Good luck.

Why is the 260 5spd most sought after? eg, Is it strength or good ratios? Is there anything negative about the 280ZX box? Need to know coz will be converting the auto to 5spd soon.

I found that if I flooded the carbs and started driving, or started driving before warming it up I would had the same problem- she would run rough, cough and black smoke for quite a while, had me worried the first time it happened but then I revved the crap out of it and it came good, so maybe you flooded it?

Looks pretty good in the pics This car also caught my eye around May-June 07 too, but I never got the chance to check it out since I am in Sydney. Looks pretty good in the pics though. "Restored 5 yrs ago. Resprayed with new interior. All original with first owner's books. Will consider lower offers without RWC." -
My 260z 2 seater, Auto with aircon, RS30-015093 compliance date says 12/76,original sales invoice states delivered to its first owner by Lennock Motors Datsun ACT on the 10th DEC 1977 with extras headlight covers and NSW rego driveaway price of $11,979. Compliance plate does state the transmission as automatic. Hey Zedevan, your original owner must have got a hell of a good deal, I mean back in '76/'77 $4,300 difference in a year, even considering automatic & air con??

Every Datsun owner knows how the clock never keeps time properly, currently I have 2 120Y's and a 260Z. The other day I was reading through the owner's manual of my Z. Quote:"To reset the clock, push the knob out(shouldn't that be pull?) and reset to the desired position. Turn the knob clockwise to advance the hands and counterclockwise to retard the hands. Reset the clock on a daily basis." End quote. So they knew that the clocks don't keep proper time even from new? I heard its something to do with cars electrical system?

Regarding my slushbox 260Z, I have read on some forums about modifying the 3 speed auto. Heard mentions of manual valves or something? I'd like to learn more about this. Am considering mucking about with the auto for now, not sure if want to convert to manual with my L28 now or all at once with perhaps RB+ 5sp in the future. Hey Rev, how did you go with your conversion?

Hi Craig, nice buy. Those mags are stock, as well as the steering wheel. I wouldn't mind a stock 260Z steering wheel myself so if anyone wants to sell one let me know! I've never actually had a good look at a 2+2 before so I'm not sure about the interior colour scheme, but the whole car looks very original all over. -
I'm usually on the conservative side but don't mind a torquey V8, also the advantages of being shorter, behind the front axle. But IMO , a Z is a Z and not supposed to look like a corvette/e-type/shelby cobra/ferrari or that horrendous ghost-train thingy

Thanks for the tip Drunkenmaster, well mine is a 12/76 and the seats for sale are said to be from a 77 2+2. The covering on my seats are actually pretty good, but just feels like the springs and padding is worn, and a little bit of free play. Maybe I'll just swap the seats around from left to right, will they just bolt in?
