  1. Is that a big speaker I can see inside ? If so, does it have a hole cut into the inner panel for the speaker to fit into ? Take speaker out, cut a piece of wood (hardwood) to the appropriate length, shape the end of the wood to the rough shape of the panel and carefully hammer it out (or use a porta power as Lurch suggests) I'd be trying to knock it out - even if that involves cutting an access hole in the inner skin if the speaker hole doesn't work out. If you try to weld a new piece in you potentially will suffer from warping, which will require you to be able to access both sides of the panel anyway to hammer and dolly it straight again.
  2. No worries - they've been in my shed since the 80's, so they're not going anywhere in a hurry
  3. I also have a set (but no longer have a zed) - if you're happy to pay postage on just the bits you want, I can dismantle them and post the said bits off to you for just the cost of postage.
  4. The Sydney Club's presentation at the last evening's dinner showed very strongly that it will be a "Z" only event. Categories on the slideshow went something like 240Z, 260Z, 280ZX, Z31, Z32, 350Z Don't know were my 1600 fits in there ? When asked the question on the night, the presentor mumbled something about it not being finalised, we may have to invite others, and various other things that made non-zed owners feel very welcome indeed Plenty of other zed websites have had posts outlining the "zed-only" nature of the Sydney event. If it does indeed pan out to be a zed only event, I guess someone else (SDC ?) will have to step up and organise an event suitable for all representatives of the Nissan / Datsun marques (including zeds ). Will be a shame if it does end up being a downgraded zed-only event as the last few have been great, some people have had complaints about some aspects of them but as mentioned you can't please everyone all the time . The succes of the event overall surely outweighs a few minor quibbles about individual details ? To me, its all about the variety of machinery (and people) - the social side is just as important as the competitive side. You want a track day ? - there's plenty to attend that you roll up to, compete, and go home. Want to spend a weekend away in the company of a few hundred other like-minded enthusiasts, the nationals is it .
  5. Join the Datsun Sports Owners Australia club (or get a copy of their newsletter). http://www.datsun.org.au/ There were a few SP311's (the 1600 version) advertised in the current newsletter, all under $5000 but needing restoration / work. I bought two complete fairladies for $3600 off eBay late last year, the recent $1300 one was removed from eBay before the listing ended (sold elsewhere ?) And as mentioned above, the U20-equipped version is harder to find and will fetch considerably more than the R16 / G15 engined ones.
  6. I actually came on here to find you so I could organise shipping your gearbox (because Ozdat had crapped itself with a database error again last night). Was a bit nervous about posting on a zed forum, nearly got myself banned from the Newcastle Z forum a week or so back after my first post there Anyway, by the time I poked around here, Ozdat was back online so I ended up PM'ing you there. Nice forum BTW, some nice cars, I wouldn't mind a zed one day. I'll be old enough to own one soon
  7. Here's a link to how I made mine for a 180B SSS, which probably isn't that much smaller than a "Z" shell. http://www.ozdat.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=8205&hilit=rotisserie And there's a commercial one described in here. I've worked on this car mounted on the rotisserie and it is a better, more substantial rotisserie than mine. Having the ability to jack it up is much better than having to man-handle it into place as well. However, mine was cheaper http://datnet.org/Sdc-510-Club-Car-t5539.html&st=20
