  1. the doors are so long, old and heavy I'd be impressed if they consistently worked well over a period of time.
  2. Ahahahah your kidding right? is this a joke?.........you bought Arno's old car. The green beast. I'm a good friend of Arno's. I've got a black MKI.
  3. It's public road with no lane markings all year round. Closely monitored by local hwy patrol though. The pics are mixed btw......with morning drive and some old bathurst pics/vid. Scott - can't wait to see your RB rip it up : ).
  4. oops forgot about this one.
  5. Yeh nothing like a 7am run through the hills with the sounds of an L26 bouncing off the cliff edge at full revs.
  6. Hi guys, Just thought I'd post up a few pics of a drive I took going at my local hill climb destination I never seem to take any pics of the front of the car for some reason. Anyhow.......still a Nigel in syd with no close Z friends.
  7. Store it at wakefield ......doing 1:12's......... jk!!
  8. Koolies I got it running.......BANG first turn.....hehehe. It was the dizzy......i had no idea it shared the same shaft as the oil pump.......crack up.... Timing is out now cause of the dizzy adjustment but that shouldn't be too hard to get adjusted back. Looks like I have to retard it abit. Well all that hard work and it looks like it wasn't a loose chain issue. I'm still getting this knocking sound when it get to around 2,500rpm to 3,500rpm.......or even greater revs as I can't hear it after that cause the car is noisey. wonder wth it could be.....seems to be louder now with semi synthetic oil as well. I was using thicker oil before. I'm pretty sure it's come'n from the front of the head. A friend mentioned that it's a common problem to have the harmonic balancer cause some running knocking noises.....will have to look into that one.
  9. i did it because the side of the chain that doesn't have the tensioner was really loose.........even with the new chain. Maybe the head has been decked heaps. But after i moved it to the #3 dowel point the chain was tort all the way around. dam i have to take it all off again to get the dizzy rotor stem to the correct position..... no energy today..........hahahha........im ripped.
  10. Kool I managed to work out about the number '2' and '3' dowel points on the cam sprocket and ended up rotating to number '3'. I've doubled checked and there are 20 links between the two bright links on the exhaust side of the chain. Everything has lined up except for the dizzy rotor position. I must of rotated it when i took it out and put it back in. Can I get everything back to TDC and then just position the dizzy rotor to point at #1 spark lead and that should get it back to position? almost there....hope to start the car today.....3 day process : ) lucky im on holidays.
  11. Isn't the cam sproket a once piece sproket.......i.e not two seperate moving parts. Because from what your saying it sounds like I can mount the chain and by holding the chain in place of the sproket teeths I can somehow rotate the inner circle of the cam sproket.... hahahha........this is farked.......never in my life has working on a car gone smoothly. At the moment the 'v' is spot on the '-' and the cloured chain link is on #1 cam sproket digit.
  12. Hey guys, went through the manual and it's suggesting that I take the cam sprocket off and rotate it to a different dowl hole to get more tension out of a stretched timing chain. This can only be done to a certain extent or new chain is required. Does that sound right? I'm getting too much slack on the exhaust side of the chain when it's put into position. It's a new chain btw. The spring loaded tensioner would do the work on the other side but it's the exhaust side I'm having issues with. Six lazy slow hrs on it so fark.........the joy of doing things the first time....: ).
  13. has anyone been to last years one? was it big?
  14. woops posted too soon......... waited for the WD40 to set it and gave the it a tap with the hammer and it came off.......... yay! : )
  15. Hey guys, I'm doing my timing chain today and am stuck with how to get the crank pulley nut off. Have tried heaps of WD40 and even putting it in gear but can't seemt be able to give it enough force to loosen the nut. I've got no access to air tools. I can't seem to find anywhere on the head to leverage to I can apply a decent amount of force to the crank nut. Any ideas? Thanks.
  16. Just found out about this.......very looking forward to it actually. hope theres a good turn out........ is it in the parke style or pay to enter set up?
  17. Hi Guys, I took the Z down for another timed track day at wakefield on saturday. Had a ball as always and improved on my time by a bit. I'm trying to learn better lines and overall driving control of the car on street tyres before I run semis. Am on GIII's at present. I gotta say I'm loving to bits the challenge in driving this car......I've set 1:16 as a target to get to before I move onto sticker tyres or take out my VW for a run. I previously ran 1:19's but yesterday got 1:17:78. I'm trying to go regularly so things are still fresh. Will probably go to the Circuit Club day on the long wkend in oct. Auto sports are a pretty serious crowd so I was definately at the back end of the pack. Pics thanks to Emma. Small and simple. http://www.natsoft.com.au/cgi-bin/results..../2007.WAKE.S2.Y
  18. another sydney person! welcome........ your zed's engine is smick........I saw the pics. what area are you from ? west, east....?
  19. I did this a while back to give the rear end a good paint job. Don't recall it being difficult. The light assembly has about 7 or 8 small nuts/bolts that you need to undo to take it off........it's easy from there....be gentle on the seals.
  20. wow talk abotu awesome examples.........that brown one.
  21. good god the orange one is awesome. some black rims on that would be nuts..........(appologies to the puirest)........hahhaha.
