  1. Sounds good to me !
  2. Looking for the following for a '74 260 Auto gear shift console - without cracks (I already have one of those) Auto gear shift knob Drivers side armrest - not warped Left/right plastic cover for seat adjuster Drivers side left hand spring hinge (arm that holds base and seat back) Mine leans to the left when you put weight on it, so I guess the spring is knackered
  3. Good point ! Must have been having one of those blond days

  5. Thanks. I will check that first.
  6. Have you pulled the spark plug lead off each plug (one at a time) while it is running to see if there is any change ? I also had no power and removing the 3 rear plug leads made absolutely no difference to the running of the engine. Turned out to be a combination of the needle being corroded and the choke adjustment.
  7. My 260 auto clunks when I put it into Drive, so I presume it is the front diff mount at fault. I had a look through the forum but couldn't find any reports on anyone having done it, but presume there have been several since this seems to be a common problem. From the workshop manual, it appears to be a rather lengthy procedure, with some special tools required. I have a sliding hammer, but it also mentions another special tool. Anyone know what it is and if anything else can be used ? I regard myself as reasonable competent at mechanical repairs so how long should I expect this to take ? If anyone has had the job done at a workshop, how much did they charge ? Did Nissan produce any workshop job sheets that document how many hours the job should take ? Are there any other bushes and/or other parts that should be replaced at the same time ?
  8. That's the easy way ! I like the challenge of finding a way to repair original equipment. Just fixed the original Jeco clock yesterday and the antenna is the last item standing that doesn't work. I will check with Nissan tomorrow to see if the replacement mast is still available.
  9. Unlike a Hirschmann antenna, the mast/nylon line is apparently secured with a cotter pin, so I don't think a generic one will do the job. I have yet to remove it from the car and have a look, but the reference to the pin was in "How to restore your Datsun Z car".
  10. Is the nylon mast available for the 260 antenna's ? If not, has anyone successfully repaired one using another make, such as Mercedes ? My motor appears to be working fine - up/down, so I suspect the mask is broken.
  11. Not sure where the maths came from but £13,225 today would be A$20,871.
  12. Noticed that all the seat belts in my '74 260 were dated 1976. Anyone know if there was a recall in 1974/75 or 76 that necessitated the replacement of the seat belts ?
  13. I used the original wires from your switch, plus the connecting wires that were in situ, joined those together and cut and soldered new wires in where I cut them off and which are now hidden.
  14. Anyone know if these are available new, or aftermarket ? Alternately, if anyone has a good one i.e. with complete rubber (not concerned about the frame paint), please PM me.
  15. Switch has arrived and now installed ! Can't test it until I replace the wheel cylinder that is off the car, but as soon as it is reinstalled, I will let you know. Carbs are also sorted out. The needle on the rear carb was corroded so a bit of steel wool fixed that, and some readjustment of the choke cables as it was running partial choke. Now revs easily to 6000 but still needs timing and carb balance set.
  16. The terminal has broken off and there is no where I can solder it back on. It has taken with it the surrounding plastic. I had a good look but there is no way to repair it. I like your offer and will send you a PM.
  17. Wherever it is hooked up, it is pretty stuck, so will just extend the wires.
  18. It is indeed the kick down switch, however and for an unknown reason, the wires will not reach the switch. The strange looking connection was in fact part of the switch that had broken off. Maybe someone has wrapped the wires around something making them too short, but at this stage, I can't see where. If anyone has a spare switch from a wreck, please let me know.
  19. It looks like Green going into Black, however it is not long enough to connect one to the other. I will look in daylight and see if there is a terminal missing from the switch and if I can see any other connectors not going anywhere.
  20. So you're saying that the 3 wires and the switch should be connected ? I don't think they are long enough but will check in the morning and if it does look like that's where they go, I will try and reconnect them - assuming that I can get that strange connector on the back of the switch - if it isn't broken and hence the reason why it is hanging down. Yes, it is an auto, but I haven't driven it. There is a problem with one of the carbs and I can't get any power to the back 3 cylinders. That's yet another problem to sort out !
  21. I found these 3 wires today, not going anywhere. The second photo shows a wire coming from the switch behind it, and this is connected to the accelerator pedal. When the accelerator is pressed hard down, this switch clicks. Where is this wire supposed to go, and what is the purpose of it ? Wire set number two is in a similar location. As you can see, there are two of them. The one with the strange end on it is live with the ignition on. The other one is not. Again, I can't see where this goes, particularly with this strange terminal at the end. Sorry about the focus - the camera wanted to focus on what was behind it, but if you know the wires, you probably know what it's for.
  22. I was having a clean out of the boot today and pulled out the spare wheel. If I am reading the date code correctly, this might just be a factory original. It is a Bridgestone RD-102 Wide 70, and the date code, I think, is T73-03 (March 1973 ?). My car is a '74, and only done 96,000 km so I guess it is possible. Anyone know what tyres were fitted originally and if I am reading the date code, or some other numbers ? While I was having a clean up, I also decided to remove the centre console to do some crack repairs, and noticed that the radio has a spare fuse attached to the power wire. Another factory touch ?
  23. I'm looking for a left hand wiper blade for my 260z. Same as the photos below. I have two right arms, and I presume that there should be a left and a right - probably with the left being a different length. Anybody got a spare ?
  24. Thanks. I'm not in a rush.
  25. Self explanatory. My fan is running all the time, and the alternator seems to have run a bearing so just as easy (maybe) to put second hand units on it. I am in Sydney, but will be down in Melbourne in the next week or so. Phone 0414 230 966.
