  1. Oh yer my bad its a C10 GTR... I found out the kits are more than $3500, I think that was just an estimate quote for the front because through Fulcrum I suspect they will be over $5000, probably cheaper to get them directly from japan - however you would most likely need to send over your front struts as well. catch 22...

I just saw this on zcar.com - thought it might interest some people if they missed it http://www.zcar.com/forums/read.php?f=1&i=717581&t=717581
  3. Hey sco, its not an external wastegate its a boost control system which was used on the intake instead of the exhaust, basically a Blow Off Valve is used instead of a wastegate altogether in the 70's-80's, but i think a "Pop Off Valve" and "Blow off Valve" did operate differently but i dont know how. The best I could come up with, was its part of a kit produced when the 280Z was first released, made by a company called Janspeed. Another company used a similar system with a carby turbo setup and i think that the manifold I have is for that and wont clear the EFI L28 intake manifold. I still have the option of running without a wastegate but since the 1ZJ turbo has an internal one, I will just use that. This week a mate came back from overseas and said he could build me an L28 turbo exhaust manifold similar to the South Florida Performance (SFP?) ones you see on Hybridz, maybe under $500. I'm thinking about getting 2 made up - one with a smaller flange for a smaller turbo - just to see if the stock EFI will work with it instead of using a hobbs switch - something like an SR20DET stock charger - dont know yet, open to suggestions, would be good to get a cheap turbo recipe for L28's using easily accessable parts in Australia. 4. I've got a turbo and manifold to fit my L28, however the turbo doesnt have a wastegate because it used some kind of pop-off valve, so I picked up a 1JZ Single turbo unit, but since the old one is upside down i cant really bolt it on, and worry about clearance to the intake manifold - and its F54 / N42 so too much boost will kill it very quickly. In the end I think I will need to use a custom manifold or pickup a T3/T4 exhaust manifold from the states / nz. Apparently - You can get around an ECU by putting putting a 660+ cc injector into your cold start injector hole, and connect it to a hobbs switch so that under 3-4psi of boost it activates it. I'm not sure about getting an even mix throughout all of the cylinders however it would help with the extra petrol, and since its compressed air it hopefully the petrol will turn to mist. I will let you know if i try it. I'm hoping that a high compression / low boost combo will give me more low down power and help the turbo spool up faster, and help with fuel economy since the engine wont need to be in boost all the time. Timing is controlled by an MSD 6-BTM because it works with the non-turbo dizzy, on the downside it does mean i cant use an aftermarket ECU to control the timing, so hopefully the MSD's boost retard function does the job and stops any pinging - and a FMIC. I've considered using a custom intake plenum but i figured compressed air will force its way through provided its smooth enough, i've even shelved my 68mm TB and ported intake because the 280zx doesnt have much in the way of piping allowances, and any chassis mods make it difficult if you get a canary - so a megasquirt and MAP sensor with 50-55mm piping are looking better and better every day. If they can fit 50-60psi into a skinny pushbike tyre, then i'm convinced 50mm is ample for 8-10psi provided you get rid of the AFM flappy thingy. Anyway i say go the L28ET !
  5. Is there going to be beer?
  6. Tein are introducing a new product range called the "Tein Specialized" kits, they are basically a build-to-your-spec coilover kit. I havent seen any oldskool Z kits, but they can be made - retail is about $3500 (about) and the kits are EDFC compatible allowing for in car damper adjustment. In their catalogues, they have a picture of an R30 Skyline GTR coilover kit, and it uses the same stub axle style assembly as the Z/ZX's http://www.tein.co.jp/e/products/spd.html GOt work to do... more info to come
  7. Wolf3d uses a square wave from memory, the 280zx tacho uses a Round wave, i needed a square -> round wave converter when I installed the MSD on my car just to get the ECU to understand there was a tach signal coming through. IF the Wolf3d can put out a round wave, connect it to *checks MSD* the white wire coming out from the ECU? I think... White or WHite/Black
  8. I tried to purchase some headlight covers from MSA, and they quoted me almost $200USD for shipping. I offered to put the goods on my own frieght and they said OK $150USD "Handling charge" so i told them to shovel it...
  9. Add, are you talking about the entire stick or just the switches at the end of the stick? My car has the same problem and I just cant figure it out, Bluebirds never die so I like the idea of using a part out of one
  10. Toecutter get on the LS1 / FPV Forums and do some searches on weight reduction - I dont know if people are joking or what - but "lose some weight ya fat bastard" popped up more than once.
  11. I got a Z31 300zx Power Steering Rack and with new Rack Ends sittin in the workshop here doing nothing, customer crashed their Z31 and we never ended up putting the parts in.
  12. I wait and wait and wait until cheap stuff appears then i buy it - and i ask every customer who comes through GT Suspension here if they have any old parts for sale, picked up 17inch Wheels / Tyres for $600, MSD for $550 (new) R32 GTR Calipers / Discs for $300, 3 big-ass amps for $200, Turbo and Exhaust Manifold for $280 LANDED from japan.......
  13. Correct me if i'm wrong - but that IS the westgate behind this track right? Its definately an aussie car...
  14. This nutter put a turbo and a blower on his RB30DET http://www.calaisturbo.com.au/showthread.php?t=79101&highlight=twincharge 330rwhp @ 9psi
