  7. IN 1983 I was looking for an MG B, Found one in Dromana where I lived, Had a 72 VH Charger that I had worn out & I was hanging out for another $200 trade in. but they would,nt come to the party SO up your A.rse Mate I,ll find another one. Not long after that I was getting back in from Sydney one morning ( I was driving Interstate trucks) & saw an orange 72 240z in Vaneed Motors in Cheltenham, pure a.rse found a parking spot for the semi right out the front. Went in they gave me the trade in I was after without even sighting the Charger, the Z was hardtop, airconditioned & in good nick ($4950 with $2000 trade in) have had it ever since !!!! One Happy Jimbo

  12. G,day Huw, I have been with Vigil for a few years now, Have not had any reason to put them to the test as yet & dont want to!!! They have been easy to deal with, have a 24 hour roadside service, agreed value, one windscreen per year ,buyback of car if not being fixed. I only had to install a saftey switch ie immobileser ect but they took my word its been fitted & no car inspection. As far as age goes im nearly three times yours so the premiums will be quiet different between the two of us....Give em a call ..Good Luck..
  13. G,day boys. I have bumper mounted orange indicators on my Nov 1972 date of manufacture 240z ...Jimbo....
  14. G,day all, I used a rubber mat with raised sections in it for insulation so if the floor gets wet, it keeps the carpet off the floor & the carpet does,nt get wet & also lets the floor dry out!! i got the rubber matting from Clarke Rubber... Jimbo...
  15. Rudy welcome to the group, hope you enjoy the posts!!! You have a nice looking car, Welldone
  16. Yeah I,ll have a say, if you can spare the money go ahead & get it finished.. You will get a lot of pleasure out of your car whenever you get to drive it , even if you dont drive it a lot at least you have the quiet satisfaction of knowing its ready to go when your ready to go. Natez, you recon another month if you do the work ...betcha it will be a lot longer than that!!! Also any info on the 260 you want to sell thanks ...Jimbo...
  17. Yes Lurch, You got it in One, when he cranks it up it makes a lot of heads spin around. Whether he runs at Sale or the tight hillclimb track at Morwell, he,s allways flat out & does well. He told me a while back he had over $40,000 in the motor alone!!! let alone the 4wheel drive set up ....unreal....Jimbo
  18. Sorry Nate, NO camera, Left home at 4.45 am with the brain out of gear!! Anyway no brains to be leaving at that time of day when its wet...Jimbo
  19. Just home from a cold wet day at the RAAF Base at Sale. Club sprints for the Maffra & District Car Club ( MADCC), not a bad role call considering the weather. A couple of 240Z,s which performed well & a 260Z 2+2 all wheel drive with a Bloody Big V8 Chev in it that always goes well!! The mates got an R32 all wheel drive with an RB20 & he had a bit of fun today also....Me..I was the drinks boy...Jimbo...
  20. Thanks Zeddohpile, I will do a bit more checking up on the subject & report back in later on... thanks for your time Mate....
  21. G,day Zeddophile, thanks for your time. You are right, I should have stuck to the 60 mph readings as thats what my speedo is in.As I have said I always assumed I had a 3.54 Diff in the car with the auto for the last 23 years. Rob at zworkz did the manual box swap but didnt touch the diff (didnt have the pennies) Anyway car with auto 60 mph--3000rpm car with 79 5 speed 60mph 2350-80 rpm on the same rims & tyres 195x70x14 5 1/2 inch wide . Some months later I wanted to change the diff to a 3.9 But was told it already had one in it. could this info be wrong, Hence my questions!!! Thanks for your time.....Jimbo..... :!: :!:
  22. G,day Dave, I am confused too, But the car was doing 3000 rpm @ 100kph with auto transmission , then swapped to 79 280zx box & am doing 2380 rpm @ 100kph in 5th without touching anything else!! same diff which I thought was a 3.54, BUT is a 3.9... Same tyres 195 70 14. I never mentioned 2160rpm I do appreciate your knowledge..Thanks...Jimbo...
  23. G,day Mike, I always thought I had a 3.54 diff in my 72 car & have thought so for the last 23 years I have had the car. When I swapped from the auto to manual gearbox a while back ,I was pleasently supprised how well it went, but was told it would go a lot better with a 3.9 diff under it. So put a few $s aside and finaly get to put the 3.9 under it, BUT supprise supprise Daniel Moore discovers it already has a 3.9 diff in the car. OK, car with auto & 3.9 ....60 mph(100kph) 3000 revs car with 79 280zx box & 3.9... 60mph 2350-80 revs approx!!! Allright ,what would an auto with 3.54 diff rev at at 100kph, what would an 79 280zx box with 3.54 diff rev at 100kph can anyone solve the query??? thanks ....Jimbo. Mike , got the package, thanks. Hope you got mine. Are you going to the Wangaratta Rally ? Also have been ringing work , Have you been away? Will talk soon..
  24. Has'nt anyone got any info on this :?: :?: :?: Thanks Jimbo
