  1. Get the JTR book (and maybe even fitting kit) so you can easily mount an SB Chev in there. The Castlemaine Rod Shop do v8 kits for the Z, as do MSA in Los Angeles. Me personally - a stinking-hot SB if I had to. But with a few of these internet resources at your disposal, I'm sure you'll acheive it without too much fuss.
  2. Welcome! That's a nice 240Z if I do say so myself. It is not often you see cars the same colour as ours!

    L28 into 240z

What he said Don't stress - all I meant is that you may have to fit your L24 sump & pickup onto the L28. If you for some reason had a front-bowl engine, then you would also have to extend the oil pickup. But since you have a rear-bowl 280ZX engine, then all will be well!

    L28 into 240z

You may have to do a sump-swap too, depending on what the L28 is fitted with. It's really a no-brainer physically, which you will discover once you get tinto it!
  5. I know you mentioned it to me quite some time ago. My photo collection is a bit sad, but drop me a pm and I'll see if can muster up something for you.
  6. That I won't know until I get my hands on one and get a quote. I'd suggest that they could be 3kg airbagged overnight for about $20.
  7. After trolling the customs site for about the last 30 minutes, I've concluded that the signing of the USFTA has removed all tariffs on car parts originating from the US effective yesterday. This is good news for those of us that buy bits from 'Uncle Sam' on a regular basis for our Zeds But back to these diff mounts; Members that have committed as buyers (combined between thezgarage & viczcar): me x2 bluerat (Tasmania) zed240au (Tasmania) Roberto260Z (thezgarage.com) RLY240 (thezgarage.com) Coops (thezgarage.com) I need confirmation from those others that have shown interest, but I am aware that it's the silly season and people may be on holidays. There's no 'rush' but I'm going to say that the end of this month is the cutoff for this 'group buy'. When the purchase has been finalised I will require via pm or otherwise, evidence of your Paypal transaction to Brad on HybridZ. Once we've all paid (or broken the thumbs of those that haven't) the deal will be done. DO NOT pay him yet.
  8. Ok, I have a quote... Shipping cost for 8 mounts is $215USD, so for the individual is works out to $26.88USD shipping cost on top of the $50USD purchase price. I don't think that's too bad really. BUT, I haven't bought any big $ purchases from the US lately, and I believe that the customs laws have changed a bit. My point is that individuals need to be prepared to cough up more $ to deal with any duties that may arise. (i'll research this and update this thread) So, please confirm your interest and we'll lock down the numbers. I will consider taking deposits depending on how 'concrete' the commitment is, or isn't. I propose that once this is done, we'll all pay Brad on HybridZ our share of the money and the mounts will be shipped to me in Adelaide. I will advise buyers of any duties to be paid if applicable (with supporting evidence) and individuals will transfer their share of those costs to me. I will then pay the duties and get the goods released. I can accommodate interstate orders to make up the numbers (I expect that the freight cost would be relatively higher if we bought less units), but there will be a domestic charge to get the goods to you. Final Adelaide delivery can be by arranged meet or pickup - I spend a bit of time on the road so might be able to drop them off to workplaces etc. Questions??
  9. REgarding high voltage at high rpm's - get an under-drive pulley Regarding the images above - yes it looks like an internally regulated alt. to me. Note regarding the (rather good) tutorial above - the ADM 260Z doesn't have the seatbelt interlock system mentioned, so that isn't a variable in the upgrade process. Long story short; - S to battery, L to lamp (ideally with diode, but a decent lamp will do the same job) insulated post to battery via fusible link. IGN is black with white stripe, and it should all fall together. Any excess wires in the old external reg harness can just be left unplugged.
  10. From memory you have to notch the chassis rail on an S30 to clear the turbo on a VG. They aren't a horrible motor, just one with a tendency to pool fuel in the valley... (which is not uncommon for a lot of 'early' EFI vee engines)
  11. Your S130 coilovers will suit C210, R30, ADM/JDM 910 and possibly R31 (both ADM & JDM). for that matter, they may even adapt to the Z31 without too much trouble. The construction of the rear suspension is completely different between the S30's and S130's. (The more astute readers will notice that there is a wide range of suspension types in the above list, but the R30 IRS rear struts also fit the BW live axle R31, and the H165/H190/IRS Bluebirds...)
  12. Don't forget the Locktite (and proper tension) - you don't want those suckers coming loose...
  13. You mention that turbo is out due to engineering. That's certainly applicable to the RB25DET, but with the L28, it should not be so. I have in my possession a Certificate For Exemption stating that my car is a'ok with a 'standard' L28ET (and some other details like my brake conversion). My father had an Approval In Principle for the RB25DE, but it has lapsed and who knows if he'd get it again... Now that's not a precedent, but it is an indication that you should be able to do an L28-turbo conversion without engineering. What's more important, is that the 240Z is an ADR26 compliant vehicle - which in SA means that you can turbocharge the original motor without any regulatory obligations aside from maintaining the original PCV system. So... Your cheapest 'upgrade' providing you can tolerate some engine downtime would be to turbo your L24. It took me 6-months to turbo my L24 in 1997, including auto gearbox mods and brake upgrades. From memory the was about $4k - including ECU, turbo, manifolds, exhaust, intercooler, pumps and tuning. We managed to double the standard rwkw and triple the rwtq with 12psi of boost I also have some bits (and experience) you could use if you decide to go that route.
  14. Looks like you need 'Type 2' flares to cover those footprints!
  15. Here's the rest of the pics. The Yokohama tyres have actually got more meat on them than the Pirelli's...
  16. MSA have been a massive player in the Z-car parts industry in the US for as long as I can remember. They are the major sponsor of the West-Cost Nationals and have obtained their fair share of my Aussie dollars over the years. I first bought interior parts from them in about 1996. Unfortunately they called our house at about 0300 SA time to check the credit card details - which we'd supplied wrong on the fax! Naturally they've added a lot of 350Z and 370Z parts to their line-up, which has probably shifted their focus away from the early Zeds a bit. But their range and service is still excellent. I've bought everything from body kits to brake kits from them over the years.
  17. *********** Sold to pothole53, thanks for looking *********** Due to the requirement to upgrade my wheels to something that will clear my S12W callipers on the front, my 15x7 10-spoke Superlites are for sale. They've done around 25,000km (still have 2 of the original tyres bought with them in '95 fitted!). There are a couple of small chips in the clearcoat (1-2mm square), and one minor indiscretion in the lip of one wheel (no rash, but I had to clean up the edge a bit, so it's visible up close). 2x Yoko 215/60x15 and 2x Pirelli 215/60x15 tyres, probably with 50% tread on them (perhaps a bit less on the Yoko's). Offset is 11P which suits the S30 (112mm backspace) - no rubbing, and fills the guards 'sensibly'. Will clear S12 Hilux front brakes, but not the S12W 4Runners if you mount the calliper directly to the strut. (If you space the calliper back ~5mm and likewise increase the the disc spacer by the same amount, they would clear) As visible in my sig (and any other shots of my Z - e.g. the 'Taco thread ) I'll try to get some better photo's up later today. I consider them worth more than $1000 with tyres in their condition (the replacement cost of the wheels is almost this value), but I'm open to offers around the $800 mark. Located in Adelaide, and I can deliver within that area if you can't pick up. Interstate freight is probably more hassle than it's worth. They will be missed, but are being replaced with 16x7 12P and 16x8 0P 8-spoke Superlites, with black centres.
  18. Would that have been an early (R32 vintage) RB26DETT? The oil pump was upgraded in the later engines. Tomei etc also do aftermarket ones which address the issue (the specifics of which I can't remember). Either way - that sucks!
  19. You haven't got the 'lux callipers on back-to-front have you? If so, you'll be trapping air in them too. FWIW, my bias was up the creek after the same install, so I fitted an adjustable prop valve. Since then I've upgraded from the 7/8" to 1" and am now fitting 4Runner vented brakes.
  20. I'm confused, none of my cars are Mexican...

    260z Tacho

    That would taste like crap...

    260z Tacho

[ontopic] Or you could get modern circuit fitted to your existing tacho. I had my 240Z one modified from inductive loop to square-wave to suit the MSD6A. [/ontopic] I had Taco's last night - yummm.
  23. Me too I'd buy it in a snap.
  24. First post updated. I'm still awaiting freight quotes - but I notice that in the HybridZ thread there is someone now wanting one shipped to Sweden!
  25. I'm sure you'd pay $700 for an F54/P90 engine - I would. (not saying that's what it is, but it's somewhat likely)
