260Coupe Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 Split from this post: http://www.viczcar.com/forum/index.php/topic,7252.0/topicseen.html -Lurch. Try and find yourself an airbox from a Prince GTB Skyline, this airbox allows for 50mm ram tubes to fit inside and boosted mid range power nearly 10% and did not harm top end.....(engine dyno'd by Les Collins) .....this can be then fed via a pod filter or as I have installed, a factory 280z air filter housing (bolts straight onto the radiator crass member)....You can then plumb in your crank case and timing cover vents for a more EPA friendly engine. Through all of our dyno testing, this is the only airbox we have found to actually benefit engine performance .......probably due to the fact that it was designed by Prince engineers who used to design aircraft....notice the tapered shape design from front to back . There is some realigning of the rear plate required to make the box fit, but once done it works beautifully and is nice and quiet for road use. As these airboxes are so rare, I am also looking at getting fibre glass/carbon fibre boxes made (by taking a mold off mine) if I can see some demand. Alan Quote
mossy Posted June 25, 2010 Posted June 25, 2010 If you are going to get some CF ones made up Alan there is a guy on the mx5 forum that was making mx5 CF hardtops which seemmed to be a very good quality product, maybe he could make some? Quote

luvemfast Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 What sort of money will you be looking for a fibreglass? Quote
260Coupe Posted June 26, 2010 Author Posted June 26, 2010 I have a mate who's company made all the C/F aero aids for the V8 Super taxis (spoilers, skirts etc) so he is pretty handy with F/G and C/F.....he is making air filter housings for Roaders for me at the mo.............next project is my Prince airbox. They won't be cheap.............probably around $400 if I can get firm orders for 12+ .............the $$$ for the mold is the killer..............very labour intensive to get right Quote
Riceburner Posted June 26, 2010 Posted June 26, 2010 Alan will the airbox backing plate be blank, as in not drilled for a particular carb setup/size so you can DIY to your own requirements? If so you can count me in for one Quote
260Coupe Posted June 27, 2010 Author Posted June 27, 2010 The plan was to make the back plate blank with template holes for 44mm Solex's/45mm Webers which can be cut to suit..............this would also accomodate 40mm Delortos etc. For this to go ahead I will need firm deposits for orders which will be fully refunded if I do not get enough orders to make this financially viable (ie to cover costs and not cost me a packet in the process). I also have to remove the carbs and airbox from my Zed to use for the plug.............as mine has been modified to realighn holes (I have spend nearly $800 getting this right ) I will be in a better position in the next few months after my man has finished the Roadster project so stay tuned cheers Alan Quote
