Hi Guys,

Firstly what a fantastic site here! So much info and friendly folk! Im a previous owner of a 260z along with my father owning one as well back in the 70s both were 2+2s.

So a quick intro. Im Al I'm located Melbourne up near the airport in Airport West and well i have been having serious thoughts of getting back behind a the Wheel of Z again. Ill be looking for a 240Z with the stock engine and preferably mostly clean and preferably silver (i know hard to find these days) which ill post in the wanted section of the website OR the original 260z that i owned (if the owner would like to sell her)

I have one regret so far in life... Selling the 260Z 2+2 below (in pics) that i use to own for 8 years. I would love to know if anyone on here owns her and would be willing to pay to have her back as i have seen her on carsales a while back and was sooooo tempted. I sold her to a gentleman from Point Cook. If that doesnt eventuate i would love to go down the 240Z avenue.

So i though id post a couple of photos here of her.

Anyway if anyone has any info on the 260Z above in the pics or tips for the search for a 240Z ahead i have that would be great and thanks for sharing and reading this post.

I just cannot wait to get behind one of these awesome machines again.  ;D

Cheers

That's a nice looking 2+2 very clean and original, I can see why you want it back. Good luck, seem to remember seeing it for sale at some point (the number plate is familiar) but alas not sure where it is now I'm afraid.

Thanks Gav! Yes would be great to own her again but I am still not sure if I should go for a 240Z?

I should pop down to the clubs next meet. I must admit I love Warrens 240z and would be looking for something lie that but I know how that would be!  :o

I suppose there's no rush plenty of time to look for the right one.

That's probably the right attitude to take considering you might have to wait a long time for the right 240Z. A 2+2 would be easier to find. A nice selection on Carsales at the moment actually.

What's you budget if you don't mind me asking?

And welcome to the site :)

Wow I know that feeling, when I sold the 260z coupe I purchased from new in 1975 I sold in 1982 it took me 7 years to find a decent 260z and that was back then and only a 2+2 ... I still have it ....just be patient  but a good to seater is a rare find especially if you are looking for an original unmolested car good luck with the search lynton

Thanks guys for the greetings and for the info and agree totally with you all.

The budget is in the region of $20-25K. So from just browsing over Zeds for the past few months and looking at what everyone says about buying one that should get one in good/excellent condition.

If i was to ever find my original then yes the appropriate amount would be paid.

I just like the 2 seater shape more these days not sure why but just do.

If anyone knows anyone who might sell theirs please PM me. Ill be keeping my eyes peeled around all the usual sites.

Now the journey begins  ;)

Cheers

Wow that z looks alot like the 75 we purchased last year from a guy on the gold coast. Its a manual, triple webbers and hates going slow, not like my trusty old 76 z which i have had for about seven years. She runs like a little beauty but loves rust. We just purchased new badges for the silver one to get in tip top shape (rust free) wow! and when she's complete will put her on the market. Only to enthusiasts not just an enthusiastic driver. Something to be appreciated. Gotta love 'em

Hi guys,

Well a update. A fellow collector of 240z's contacted me a while back in September and had this following car for sale.

I've purchased a clean silver 73 240Z from Coffs Harbour- from a fellow Zed enthusiast that owned 4 at one stage. Chassis HS301101278. With a L28 in the front of her.

As the Zed community is quote small if anyone has any info on this car or knew the person who did the upgrades /resto work on her id love to hear about the history.

This Zed was restored from the ground up some stage ago and the mechanical side of it is in top notch the previous owner didn't do the restoration he purchased it from another gentleman from Brissy.

Mods to her include:

-L28 with a F54 block with s/s valve seats

-280Zx 5 spd gear box

-280z distributor

-dual core aluminium radiator with thermo fans

-Hilux Disc brakes with upgrade M/C

- H4 headlight upgrade

The body is reasonable except for a dint in the front right fender and a little bit of surface rust under the passenger and drivers seat which will be taken care of first thing! The respray- not so good… :(  acrylic re spray that was never cut or polished so that will be on the cards right away as well… but thats the fun part! ;) A bit of a tidy up and tune and she will be off to get registered in the new year most likely.

Plans for her include:

-Triple Webber's

-Kamaeri Air Dam

-2 pac re-spray

-Replace bumpers with Euro style bumpers (no rubbers)

-16X7 Rota RB wheels in gunmetal grey

-Strut upgrades to front and rear.

-New K&N air filter and carby air horns (while i save up for the webbers)

Heres some quick photos and glad to be back behind the wheel of a Zed!

Any hints or tips OR history please go right ahead and let us know as its my first 240z. As you can see from above i had a 260z 2+2…. so quiet different indeed.

Thanks for looking

Cheers

Al

Hi Gavin

Thank you so much for all the info!

Wow she started off in a but of stare and Mike did a brilliant job to get her back on to he road.

With a good paint job and new carpets she'll be looking a million dollars.

Thanks again its always nice to find out the history on a car like this.

Cheers

Al, Congrats on getting a 240z.  Definitely my car from the first project thread, I recognise the ding in the front guard where a rear quarter panel from the other Z fell on it.  The air turned blue for a while when that happened.  The project thread says it all, the good the bad and the ugly.  However I'm sure I sold it running with the original matching numbers engine, what happened to it?

Cheers,

Mike
