Hi guys searched and cannot find a definative answer.

So does a 260z dash bolt into a 240z specifically a 73 model.

Reason is most aircon units i've found are from 260z's and even though the 240z dash is better looking the 260's in my opinion is better laid out. My loom and gauges are 260z spec aswell so hence the reasoning for considering this.

FWIW I've been told that no, they don't just bolt in, by a Z dismantler / used parts supplier, years ago.

And I agree with Scoota G's post that the 260's heater or a/c box mounting is quite different, for starters, but I also have a suspicion that the lower outer corner fixings are located differently.

When it comes to swapping over 240/260Z dashboards & electrical systems the big hassle is the differences between 240 and 260 wiring loom plugs; but if you're using a 260 loom in any case then hopefully all is well.

I guess all you can do is sit a 260 dash & a/c unit in place & try it for fit to see whether some simple bracket mods are all that are required.

yeah they don.t just bolt in. but provision are there on the 240z to accommodate 260z dash. been looking at air box both 260 and 240. the panel looks same just some of the mounting holes have not been made on 240z. so u have to drill and install a nutsert or bolt it up via the air box (bit difficult).

some mounts and holes are different on tunnel area between the two. but doesn't look difficult to fabricate something to make it fit.

the heater pipes may not align up (haven't checked this but an assumption I think they bit lower from memory but could be wrong) and if you fitting a/c from 260 you will need to cut 2 more holes in the firewall for a/c lines to go through.
