Retro Z Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Hi guys after some advice again. Wondering what and where i can get something to plug up the two outlets on my ebay spec alloy radiator. The two outlets im referring to is for the fluid lines that go to the l series auto box..since my cars manual i don't require these. I am currently using rubber nipples that are clamped on that i got from a plumbing supplier but it is now cracked and leaking coolant. Anyone know the thread size and pitch in which i could maybe source a 'closed nut' from a bolt supplier Quote
Moderators Zedman240® Posted December 30, 2012 Moderators Posted December 30, 2012 Coolant should'nt be leaking from those connections as auto fluid should flow in and out.. Normally you can leave them open when you have a manual trans with an auto radiator. I'd take that radiator to a place that make them and remove the bottom tank and have them modify it. Quote
Scoota G Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Dimitri is spot on it shouldn't be leaking and must be ruptured. Enzed will have some for sure. Quote
Riceburner Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Get a short piece of trans or coolant hose, fit to each nipple in a loop. Or two short pieces with appropriate size bolts pushed in the end, then fit hose clamps. It sounds a little rough but will get you out of trouble and last a long time. Just change the hose/hoses whenever you replace coolant hoses. Quote
Retro Z Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Yeah i thought they shouldn't leak also but what do you expect from a mass produced ebay radiator . I think i might just get my neighbour to weld the outlets closed with a tig. Cheers for the prompt help guys Quote
HKSZ Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Can you tell us what ebay user you bought it from,I'm looking to buy one soon. Imagine just the mess if you had an auto hooked up to it wouldn't know there's a problem till the auto went bang. Quote
Retro Z Posted December 30, 2012 Author Posted December 30, 2012 Was from a ebay seller called ' tuningcooler' the only one with the best offer feature. I offered paid like $140 so maybe i got a dud. Quote
Six_Shooter Posted December 30, 2012 Posted December 30, 2012 Imagine just the mess if you had an auto hooked up to it wouldn't know there's a problem till the auto went bang. That's exactly what happened to my truck before I got it and why I got as cheap as I did, because it needed a new trans, rad and coolant flush. Needless to say, I only use an external cooler now, to eliminate the possibility of the same problem in the future. Quote
