260DET Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Love your work Jase!!!! LOL. Got to Luv it Mr Fast...your the first person to mention a Nissan!! so much for a Datsun site... Bloody Pathfinder is nearly $10K more than a Challenger which has similar specs and Nissan don't offer a 2WD version either. Not very market responsive Mr Nissan. Quote
260DET Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Simon, 2 years ago i ran the sums on a colorado diesel Vs a colorado V6, knowing that in 4 -5 years it would be traded in. Basically the v6 uses more fuel to cover the same distance as compared to the diesel...but, extra-over cost of the fuel is cancelled out IMHO in the fact that the diesel cost 10-12% more to purchase new, and cost 20-25% more to service....plus the v6 is a bullet off the line . The commodore engine which is in the colorado is very smooth and cheap to service. Ive been very happy with it. Yeh, there are pluses and minuses on both sides but when looking at the used market diesels hold their value much better than petrols. Modern common rail turbo diesels move along well, driving my auto Challenger in traffic is no problem particularly at the lights. It can accelerate much faster than is usually needed so no problems there. But of course there is nothing wrong with a good petrol, particularly the Falcon Barra donk. Quote
260DET Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 Fuel price check today in Brisbane (The Gap) 91 ron unleaded Petrol 1.36/litre diesel 1.53/litre If your towing the sums are worse when you realise the fuel companies are pricing in the economy difference between petrol/diesel :'( Yeh, fuel prices are all over the place, a few weeks ago diesel was cheaper so who knows what the future will bring. 260DET Posted November 3, 2012 Author Posted November 3, 2012 The triton and rodeo weren't really on my list of potentials but I might have a look now?? Challenger is based on the Triton, unfortunately the auto is derated torque wise compared with the manual. Manuals haul pretty good I'm told, auto is not bad though. Quote
1600dave Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Yeh, fuel prices are all over the place, a few weeks ago diesel was cheaper so who knows what the future will bring. Petrol prices are all over the place, diesel usually stays pretty constant. Quote
chris240 Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 Crikey that v6 pathfinder must have a leak in the fuel tank !! Im averaging 11.5-12.5 in the colorado v6 auto....the wifes v6 3.5 lit rav4 does even better. Quote
