And when you rang them, and spoke human to human, they said why the site has not had much use?

I'd say it will be because the member base is very low, jst like the Qld Z club, and both sites get very little use or activity, save for the odd visitation for members to check upcoming things.

Qld Z club has around 60 to 80 paid ups, with around 20 or so very active, the same ones year after year.

Sydney Z club wont be much different.

The VicZcar site is not a traditional "club" as the motoring enthusiast of advancing years would be accustomed to.

In current, and forward times, the concept of the teaditional club is being well tested.

I'm not sure ringing them up would provide one with an answer one was looking for. It seems from the forum that there has been some problems with the committee dynamics. It would also be true that the age of early zed owners would comprise of more older generation people, and the opportunty for younger people to own 240'z and 260z coupes are getting harder to buy now, therefore numbers would be limited. Maybe, younger drivers are also more into z32's

I can actually recall when the club started, sometime in the very late 80's the interest was huge. The annual concourse was held at Darling Harbour, the z32 was just being released and s30's were very attainable. It was a time when many zed owners were happy to here that early zeds were in fact classic cars, as up until the club started, it was all about MGB's, Jags, Porsches, Corvettes and Toranas.

The website has hardly had any activity, compared to years gone by where it was quite busy.

I would suggest taking the "Old Skool" approach of contacting the club and attend a general meeting in person.........(heaven forebid  :P)

They were good times when the Sydney Z car club started. The way it started was that an ad was placed in the trading post for all interested Z owners come and meet at Hasham's, a hamburger joint located near Mascot airport  at Kyeema I think its called. It was located right on Botany bay and z's from all over Sydney would rock up on a Wednesday evening to show their cars and then go in have a burger while having a meeting. The level of interest was very impressive. At the time the President was a guy called Joe Grupe who had a burnt orange 240z. Tthe first 2 concourse's were held at Darling Harbour which was fantastic. I was wondering whether there is anybody on this forum who had any recollection of these early times?

So, when you rang them, just recently, what did you find out?

What do they all get up to these days.

That Botany area you speak off is now full of Uleh's, Pink WRX's on 22" Tempe wheels, and hang out at BrightonLe Sands.

I was a member of the Sydney Datsun Drivers Club, would meet at the old Rooty Hill RSL, it was a strong rally oriented club, i am still in cintact with a few old members, after 30 years.

Ain't you meant to be on a European vacation Jason!? ;D

Thought the German beer wenches would have had you distracted by now! ;)

Joe Grupe was a great guy (sadly departed some years back - heart condition) but one of the truly genuine gentleman of the car club scene.

His old orange z either was or became Kalahari Tan and was converted to a fantastic tarmac rally z by Richard Galley in Qld. Now in WA with a Mr Moir and still competing in Tarmac Rallies!

I am!

Flew into Paris, then Madrid for few days, now into Prtugal, Nazare ( worlds largest ridable surf at 24 metres) was very interesting!

Just into Lisbon for couple days.

8 weeks to go, and still behaving, just!re Sydney Z club, my old mate and erstwhile rapid punter of Rally Z cars, Steve Cox is/was recent President, not sure who else involved, Harlour's x3, and few others.

Like previously noted, some clubs do not have rapid and constant website updates, most likely due to costs of running websites.

Ring them up on the thing called a telephone, the number should be on a website, under "contacts"

Well blow me down! A fellow past member of DDC. I was involved when rallies took place in Castlereagh "forest" and consumming vast quantities of amber around a couple of 44 gallon drums. The nights activities usually meant dodging trees and having vast amounts of fun. This was the pre Rooty Hill days when Series 7 rallies and friendly competition with HDCC was all the rage.

George Sosimenko was el presidento with his gorgeous green240 zed - it was the first time I had seen it in anger and vowed "some day, I'm going to get one of those!" - it only took 26 years...

Ah youth, why have you deserted me?

I can answer this question. The committee underwent a bit of a change and the President took a hard line on not wanting people to participate with the club unless they were a member. They also seemed to have a problem with anyone below the age of 40, though I'm not saying that is all of them, just the committee.

Newcastlezeds members always used to go across both forums but that is no longer the case, specially since Newcastlezeds folded up at the end of last year mostly due to a lack of interest.

Still as the zeds get rarer you'll find most people will drift towards Datsun clubs (all rounders instead of unique model only)
