Dipstick popping out?? L26

Hey guys,

 

As you may have seen in the 'wanted' section, I have misplaced my dipstick.

 

I have a replacement for now, just a stick from some other car but I need to cut it to the right length.

 

I was wondering if someone could take theirs out of their L26 and measure it up for me.

it is 222 mm in length,, the full line is 40mm from the tip  the low level is 22mm from the tip  hth

222mm seems very short.

At first I thought it was a little personal.

But now I just think Linton wants to let everyone know his dipstick is 222mm long

So it seems the reason it has gone missing is that it gets shot out of the hole while in use... Why does this happen? It has only started now that I replaced the rear main seal..

 

What to do?

Obviously oil sprays out the side too.

What venting of the crank case are you running?

Could be ring blow by or even crap/carbon on your valve seats. Check your valve clearances too.

It has a rubber hose leading to a catch can from the outlet on the valve cover.

I just disconnect the hose from the can to see if it is maybe too restrictive.

I'm really hoping its not a ring. It hasn't been burning oil so that's a good sign so far.

These measurements imply the space between high and low to be only 18mm.

Can you please confirm?

I just don't want to have it wrong.

The high and low measurement on the dipstick is 1 Litre difference!
