Suggestions on fitting "Whale Tail" spoiler securely.

Finally getting round to securing rear spoiler , I have access to internals of spoiler where I intend to use flat almnm bars on the inside with nuts n bolts as part of fitment to boot lid . However I also want to use a flexible silicone that is wtrproof & also reasonably strong to assist with securing also.. Do not want to use any slcne that dries hard like Silkaflex as I have found that this occurs with this product. Also will I need to grind paint off where I use slcne. Suggestions please fella's.

Personally, I wouldn't use a sealant on it unless it is totally necessary. Maybe just a little around the bolt holes?

 

It just makes a messy job later on down the track when you change your mind about that spoiler or it gets damaged....etc. And try getting it all off the spoiler and bootlid without damaging paint!

 

Saying that, you could use a mastic silicone that does not harden or maybe even some windscreen sealant?

Stick it on with sicka flex and four self tappers in the corners of teh spoiler where it meets the hatch.

 

I dont know why you want to stick one of those abominations on your car though - they are epically ugly...

ThANX H/S FOR THE ADVICE, THE MASTIC SOUNDS LIKE THE GO. HEY DC ITS NOT LIKE THE USUAL WHALE TAIL AS IT HAS A GRADUAL GRADIENT & NOT A UPSWEPT VERSION LIKE THE OLD ONES. IT'S MORE IN KEEPING WITH THE LINES OF THE CAR. WILL POST SOME PICS WHEN IT'S ALL FINISHED. WHICH IS VERY SOON I HOPE.

... if you dont seal it water and dirt will get in and rust the hatch...
